This new orange-amber-coloured beer contains no oranges; the hops
used deliver a hint of orange – not enough to diminish the malt and
hop base, yet enough for an intriguing dimension to its character

Cask at the Knights Templar, London, 22/04/13. Clear light golden with a good sized white head that retains well. Excellent lacing ensues. Nose is pale malts, tangerines, light sugars, grass. Taste comprises pale malts, slightly artificial orange (but not OTT artificial), grass. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, light bitterness in the finish tempered with a background orange flavour. Ok drinkable stuff - did what it said on the tin but I wouldn’t want more than one of these in a session - a little over sweet.

On gravity at the Commercial Rooms (JDW), Bristol April 2013. Deep amber with a slight, off-white head. Citrus hops, marmalade sweetness, a hint of biscuity malts and a moderately bitter finish. A bit one dimensional, but fine.

Cask at The Square Peg, Birmingham. Poured a clear medium amber with a bubbly white head. The aroma is weak malty with a little fruit, leading to a medium to weak bitter flavour with malt and a hint of orange on the palate, which became more prominent as the beer warmed. A very drinkable session beer for sure. I’d order another and that’s one of the best compliments I can pay this ale!

Goodmans Fields Spoons. Almost clear gold beer, tidy white head. Palate is smooth with good fine carbonation. Mild minerals. A fresh beer with a great mouthfeel. Nice mixture of hop bitterness, orange peel and fresh orange. A whisper of unsweet bubblegum. Finishes semi dry with a bigger orange wallop. It’s a bit like biting into a fresh unpeeled orange. Went down very well after a swim. Good stuff!

Cask at the Old manor (JDW), Bracknell. Straw coloured with a thin white head that laces the glass; simple malty aroma; rather thinly bodied with a malty taste and perhaps a trace of orange; the finish is dry with a rasping bitterness and a malty aftertaste. Not my favourite Otter.

Well hopped. Has a light golden appearance with a creamy head. It has a tropical fruit aroma and taste and is slightly dry in the palate.
