Bottle from The Granary deli, Wallington. A leftover Christmas beer; as it's likely to be my last ever tick on Ratebeer it seemed an appropriate one to say "Bah Humbug" to the Scrooge's at AB-Inbev. It's a chestnut colour with a beige head and a light prickle of carbonation. There's a toffee aroma, with a flavour of chocolate, toffee, walnut and autumn leaves. Maybe a tad thin, but enjoyable - I do like darker bitters like this.

500ml bottle. Dark ruby, thin white head, minimal retention; not great. Aroma of malts, liquorice, berries, earth; very nice although you tell its fairly light bodied. This proves to the case but has a nice soft carbonation. Taste is toasted malts, liquorice, berries, nice bitterness, slightly dry. I enjoyed it.

500ml bottle from Appleyards. Drunk on a quiet Friday night in the midst of the Coronavirus pandemic. Ruby pour, small off-white head that disperses to scattered bubbles. Amber malt nose. Taste is a fairly straightforward malty ruby, nutty, malty with a robust bitterness.. lacking a pronounced sweetness that I hoped for. Ok.

Danke an minutemat. Dunkler, trocken röstiger Beginn, schwacher Hintergrund. Geringfügig nach Schokolade, wässrig herb, mit der Zeit weich bitter werdend. Die Röstigkeit nimmt ab, kurzer Abgang. Okay. 9/9/8/8/9/8
