Virgin Oak aged Red Rye stock ale.

Expect some strawberry notes, some vanilla from the wood & lots of booze, this will change as it ages and possibly end up similar to a barley wine. originally brewed to boost the abv of a weak beer. so give blending a try with your favourite ale. or drink as is. (which is what I’d do)

440ml can. Opalescent, dark ruby colour with small to average, frothy, moderately lasting, minimally lacing, beige head. Mellow, caramel malty and slightly nutty malty, slightly fruity, mildly spicy and minimally woody aroma, hints of cherry, cherry juice, some toffee, praline, whiffs of oak. Taste is sweet-ish, slightly spicy, caramel malty, minimally nutty malty, slightly alcoholic fruity, initially minimally woody, notes of cherry, some toffee, rye spiciness, a touch of oak; more oak in the finish, a minimally warming alcoholic touch as well.
Viscous texture, smooth and soft, silky, minimally cloying palate, fine, dense, mildly prickly carbonation.
Intense and condensed, very homogeneous, integrated if not amalgamated, but as a result almost a bit monotonous; minimally boozy passages, but overall relatively well hidden alcohol - very good.

Can from House Of Trembling Madness. I spilled a glass that had 3/4 of the beer in it - an expensive mistake… From the remaining 1/4… Clear amber body with a thin off-white head. No visible carbonation. Patchy lacing. Aroma of strawberry, toffee apple and stewed tea. Flavour of caramel, fig and strawberry laces. Medium to full body with a slick texture. Soft fizz. This is warming and wonderful. I spilled most of this so it’s a great excuse to buy another can. The small amount of beer I tried was sensational. I think Sinnister should consider 330ml cans (or smaller) rather than 440ml cans.

Can from Great Grog (less than a week after the first one I spilled most of…) Clear amber body with a thin off-white head that fades. No visible carbonation. Patchy lacing. Aroma of toffee, fig and strawberry syrup. Flavour of strawberry laces, vanilla, candy and caramel. Medium to full body with a chewy mouthfeel. Soft fizz. This is utterly delicious. If I was to blend it with a beer, it’d be Cromarty’s Red Rocker.

Can. Just a light haze on this darkish amber beer, small bubbly tan head. Smooth palate, light and mildly dry, good fine minerally carbonation. Lots of oaky wood up front, the light oak induced vanilla blending well with the modest creamy sweetness. Caramel, not that sweet, dark toffee. Some ripe fruits, whisper of berry fruits. Finishes airy and crisp and leaves a long oaky woody linger. Intriguing brew. Thought this would fit snugly in the barleywine bracket or imperial amber. Has elements of both whilst remaining true to itself. Drinks well for the abv.

Can thanks to my brom it pours clear deep red - brown with a decent off - white head. The aroma is bitter - sweet, vanilla, toffee, booze soak oak, berries, red fruits, strawberry, jammy, booze, fruit cake, spice and rye bread. The taste is firstly dry, bitter - sweet, hint of acidity/sourness, tangy red berries, strawberry, raspberry, cherry, warming booze, dry oak, tannin, rye bread, resin, sappy and chewy malt with a toothy finish. Medium+ body and fluffy carbonation. Chewy and complex. Interesting and satisfying.
