12 oz. can. Clear golden earring. Uneven white head. Aroma’s: tropical fruity, light sweetness/malt. Retronasal it’s a bit earthy, fruity. Flavor is rather bitter, light caramel. Medium bodied. Earthy bitter finish. OK, but a bit one dimensional. And this was a reasonably fresh can.

Draught at Sweet Grass Grill, 12/27/15
Looks a lot like the pint pictured. Especially the haziness and lack of head.
It was interesting to try this after having the Shuggie Soulbender, since they are both NSauvin-hopped IPAs around the same abv and from the same region.
This one fared much worse, however, having far less aromatics and being bogged down in the flavor by too much bitterness and some sugary, underfermented malt notes. Had to choke down the last third of the beer, as it’s just too unbalanced and quite monotonous in the flavor; lime zest, bitter orange and apple-like bittersweetness.

Drought. Hazy rich yellow color, small spongy beige head, hops aroma, sweetish hoppy taste, fizzy carbonation, long finish.

Cask at Mugs Alehouse, Brooklyn NY on 20th July 2011. Hazy gold with thin lacing film. Fruity, hoppy yeasty aroma, then plenty of grapefruit in mouth, smoothish mouthfeel and bitter grapefruit finish. Good fairly easy drinking American IPA.

Saloon (?) tap ($6): Pours an amber color with white head. Pine, pine, and more pine. Taste is similar to aroma. Got the pine and citrus, with minimal malts. Reminds me of Greenpoint’s Heartland Indiana Pale Ale, which I tried once. One would think they are the same beer although they apparently have different alcohol levels. In any case, not my thing, just too piny and tastes like medicine or something like that.

Location: On tap at RnH, 3/22/10
Aroma: The aroma is lots of pine/resin, with a nice hop feel
Appearance: Pours an orange color with a white head
Flavor: Taste is resiny as well, mild sweetness, medium bitter
Palate: It has a nice mouthfeel and a medium body
Overall Impression: Overall, this beer is pretty nice. This is my first Kelso beer, though I have had a bunch of the Heartland stuff, and I now see they are related through Greenpoint. Anyway, I liked this beer, a very solid IPA.
