Sat July 10, 2010 Draught at Pizzeria Paradiso, courtesy of RJ and Darian, thank you sirs! Bright amber color, off white head, great lacing. Aroma of caramel and light spice. Taste is white pepper and malt. Nice.

Bouteille 12oz. De couleur cuivrée-brune et claire. Nez malté de caramel légèrement rôti, moyen de houblon floral aux notes citriques et résineuses avec des traces de chocolat. Moyennement ronde en bouche avec un pétillement moyen et une texture légèrement résineuse et aux notes crémeuses. Goût léger-moyen amer de houblon citrique aux notes résineuses (présent en arrière-goût toute la gorgée) avec des notes fruitées (agrumes) lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute un goût malté de caramel sucré légèrement rôti ainsi qu’un léger goût de pain grillé puis en finale, l’amertume de houblon se veut légèrement plus résineuse et herbeuse en plus d’être accompagné de traces de chocolat et de noix. Post-goût moyen-long et un peu sec, moyen-léger amer de houblon légèrement citrique, résineux et herbeux. (2006)

Bottle. Pours reddish brown with tan head. Semi clear. Nose of cascade hops and huge malt character. Taste is very malty, with cascade hops and some light spruce maple.

(Bottle, Monk’s Café Wallingatan, Stockholm) Reddish amber colour with frothy, beige head. Fruity, hoppy nose with caramel, orange peel and a hint of black-currant. Fruity, hoppy taste with notes of blood oranges, caramel and a balanced, citric bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with some sweetness. Not one of the more exciting Avery beers, but solid and weel made.

Pours quickly dissipating beige head, but that head leaves all sorts of syrupy lacing around. Beer is cloudy amber brown color, don’t look like your average amber ale. Aroma is mostly sweet maltiness. Taste ain’t too bad, mostly malts around front and middle, and then proceeds to get some nuttiness and earthiness at the end. Thicker than your average rubbish amber and that is in every way a good thing. The biggest flaw with this beer is that it is still and amber ale, a beer style whose existence I cannot comprehend.

12 oz. bottle. A good brownish red pour under a big pillow of tan foam. Smell brings up some crisp hops, probably PNW, of course. Also a toasty malt smell. Foamy head lasts longer in the glass than most other bottled beers. First taste feels a bit creamy. Then shows a graham cracker feel and taste from the malts, just not as sweet. Hops offer sharp bitterness with surrounding sea of pine. Aggressive taste and a bit of alcohol to show this ain’t no session ale.

Bottle: Reddish amber pour with a finger of creamy beige head. Nice aroma of sweet malt, a little bready, and light citrus. Citrus and floral hops up front into a flavor of malty sweetness. Perhaps a bit of caramel and a light lingering citrus bitters. This was really quite nice.

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Pours with an off-white head that fades over a hazed nut brown body. Very malty aroma with notes of caramel, dark fruits, bread, berries, wheat and light toasted coconut. Taste is also very malty with a slightly sour mash finish and light caramel connecting everything. Light carbonation.

Reddish-amber colour with a slight haze. Crystal malt, brown sugar, orange and wood on the nose. Sweet, with a slight turbinado and tea accent. Bitterness in the low 20s, with a slight woodines and very light apricot fruitiness. Yeah, it’s an American red all right.

on tap-pours a white head and amber color. Aroma is medium malt-sweet, wood Taste is some malt-slight caramel, dry bitter hop. Good effervescence.
