Boozy, very mellow. Cocoa, coffee, lots of bourbon. Quite nice.

Bottle @ home. Opaque jet black color, average sized beige to light brown colored head that diminishes fairly quickly. Aroma is malts, dark malts, firm to heavy barrel influences and slightly peat. Taste malts, dark malts, roasted malts, medium peat, just doable if you ask me (but I don’t like peatiness), slightly laurel, a leafy and slight metallic but also wood bitter finish. Medium body, smooth texture, suitable soft carbonation. Very solid, but the peatiness eventually starts to annoy me just a little too much.

Bottle from Slijterij Wijnhandel Scholars, Bergen, Nord Holland, Netherlands, consumed at Frank (camper), Camping Strandbad, Edam, Thursday 29th September 2016 Wow this is a hugely drinkable big, beefy 11% stout. Ok so there is a little warmth from the alcohol but it’s only a little, there is lots of chocolate, the Bourbon BA works well, it’s soft with a really nice creamy edge, super indulgent, you can pick out the hoppiness at the edges, this is a great beer, glad I have all 375ml to myself. . Bottle sample at NHBF’16. Black colour, brown head. Aroma of liquorice, laurel, molasses, quite sweet, coffee. Flavour is light smoky, liquorice, molasses, laurel, earth. Tastes a bit funny tbh. Medium to full bodied. OK.

Sampled from bottle at NHB 2016. Very dark brown to black with a light brown head. Sweetish-malty, slightly roasty aroma of dark chocolate, coffee, some red fruits, vanilla and some peat. Sweet, malty, slightly roasty taste of dark chocolate, coffee, licorice, red fruits, vanilla and some peat, followed by a long, moderately roasty-bitter, warming and slightly boozy finish. Medium to full body, slightly oily mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Very nice!
