Location: 12 oz bottle from Buy Rite, 4/20/12

Aroma: This one has a sweet malty aroma, some light citrus, and a little bit of earth
Appearance: It pours a mostly clear reddish-orange color with a small head and light lace
Flavor: The flavor of this one is medium sweet and fairly malty, with an earthy hop presence
Palate: The body is light-medium, with a slightly sticky feel, and too much carbonation
Overall Impression: I wasn't impressed by this one. The nose and the flavor are fine, I guess, but nothing special. It is drinkable, but again, not particularly exciting.

Refrigerated bottle poured into a shaker. Pours clear amber with finger head that dissapates. Fairly good small lacing, medium body, lightly carbonated, and grassy hop aroma. Taste is caramel malt and grassy hops. No need to repeat.

Crisp copper coloured body with a thick dense tan head. Aroma of mild low alpha acid hops, some light old malt and a touch of sugars and medicine - not too nice. Light-bodied; Sharp medicinal flavour with a little hops and a very small amount of hops with very little else - pretty bland. Aftertaste is mild as well with almost nothing going on - not too good. Overall, a pretty awful beer with no good flavours and no complexity. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Oliver’s Beverage in Albany, New York on 18-November-2011 for US$1.19 sampled at home in Washington on 24-January-2012 the day before leaving to go up to the Adirondack Mountains.

Orange with a white head. Aroma is fruity with light citrus and rusty malts. Medium to light body. Flavor is a bit one sided. Malty with odd fruity notes. Decent.

Bottle from a multipak from the Folsom BevMo. Purs copper with a slight white head. Aroma suggests a touch of sulphur. Near med body. It’s floral over caramel. Maybe a touch of citrus. Pleasant, not really bland, but hardly exciting. It does seem bitter - so a plus for that.

Looks like a pale lager, perhaps just a tad darker. Big foamy nearly yellow head that fades within a minute or 2. Smell is quite floral hoppy, like a big IPA. First taste is on IPA style, but this is a pale ale? Too strong for my girlie lager loving tste buds. For the amount of hop bitterness, it certainly does have some decent co2. Long bitter medicinal IPA finsh. Old dependable saranac, she has come a long way. I’m quite surprized this is not rated higher, considering how much on style it is for an IPA.

Pours a deep copper color with a decent sized white head that displays moderate retention and lace. Smells of hops up front. Juicy citrus, pine, onions, and garlic with hints of bread, caramel ,and licorice in the background. Taste is bready malty caramel sweet up front before the hops take over and reclaim their dominance. Pine, green onion, and garlic flavored hops atop bready caramel that can’t keep up. Medium to thin body, moderate level of carbonation, with a sweet resinous mouthfeel. Wow after several mediocre beers from the 12 pack I think we have our winner. It’s too bad my brother drank and didn’t enjoy the other bottle in the 12 pack.

Bottle. Mild piney hop aroma. Almost clear dark amber colour. OK stable tan head. The flavour has the same mild piney hopness as the aroma, slightly caramelly. Hint of grain in the finish, but OK.

Bottle. Pours clear copper with a thin, white head. Aroma holds some mellow maltiness and light fruitiness. Flavor starts sweet, bready, then gives way to an earthy, bitter finish. Medium in body and well carbonated. A pretty strong example overall; definitely sessionable.
