Founded in 1997 as Highwood, although the Tom Wood branding was used from the outset. A consortium of six local people took control of Lincolnshire brewer which went into liquidation at the start of March 2011.

Following the change in ownership, the Tom Wood name was officially adopted. In 2018 another change of ownership, Mark Smith, led to another change of name to Lincolnshire Craft Beers. For continuity head brewer Rhys Brokenshire works for the company since 2001.
