Nearly black, small tan head. Chocolate, bourbon aroma. Chocolate, vanilla, a hint of dark fruit flavour.... Creamy with a very nice smoky, alcohol burn. An exceptional beer.

Draft. Sweet caramel malt and light pepper aroma. Chestnut with moderate head. Sweet caramel malt flavor initially that is quickly overwhelmed by spicy habanero flavor. Very well done.

Bottle. After thinking about it, I decided I wanted my 2000th rating to be something from my home state, and not the expected whale, so I went for this special release from one of my favorite obscure local breweries. Smoky boozy whiskey, creamy chocolate, vanilla earthy-leathery-tobacco aroma. Poured black with a moderate creamy brown head. Sweet creamy chocolate, smooth smoky/oaky whiskey, vanilla, and a bit of prune flavor and some roast in the finish. Full creamy body soft carbonation. I chose well... this did not disappoint, and I expect itβs destined to become a whale.

Draft @ brewery. Sweet buttery caramel malt and orange hops aroma. Clear deep amber with a small white head. Just like the nose, caramel malt and orange hops flavor. Medium body, average carbonation. A nice solid IPA.

Draft @ Brewery. Sweet smoky caramel malt and earthy peaty aroma. Dark brown with a moderate beige head. Sweet smoky malt, spicy pepper, and light ash flavor. Light body, soft carbonation. This beer made me very happy. Finally, a pepper beer with some real heat! It left a nice lingering burn at the back of my throat and on my lips, and some heat in the pit of my stomach. Loved this one!

Draft @ Brewery. Sweet chocolate and roasty coffee aroma. Dark brown with a small beige head. Flavor exactly like the nose with sweet chocolate and roasty coffee. Light body, soft carbonation. Body is a little light for the style, but the brewer was intentionally going for a lighter sessionable stout, and it worked well for me. This was very easy drinking.

tap at 800 degrees in February - Smells of coffee and sweet milk chocolate. Itβs a near black brew with a very small head. The flavor is sweet with lots of chocolate. Itβs medium bodied and finishes with roast coffee. I thought any bourbon character was quite subtle. Good brew.

Draft. Murky amber body. Frothy, white head. Aroma of sweet caramel with a hint of Belgian yeast. The flavor is moderately to heavily sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, soft carbonation. Light taste of Belgian yeast and bigger taste of homebrew twang. Overly sweet and at the same time missing the maltiness and mustiness of a classic dubbel.
