Draft at Iowa Taproom, De Monies. 3-16-2016, from notes. Pitch black, no head. Aroma dark chocolate malts, roast and earthy oak. Mild coffee tones.
Flavor is really bold for a standard porter! The dark roasted grain gives off thick chocolate, mild coffee, and a mild earthy wood flavor. Tastes like it was aged in oak. (Although I know it wasn’t) Deep rich grain body that leads me to think it was a heartier stout. Great fuller mouthfeel. I’m shocked this is under 7 % ABV. Very finely crafted.

Finishes with a dry texture. A creative composition of grains, yeast and hops. Medium body with an effervescence. Pretty nice.
