12 oz can from HyVee Ankeny, dated 8/23/21. Dark and a bit hazy amber Oktoberfest color, under a fizzly head. A lot of caramel malt smell, and some alcohol right in the nose. Just might be a bit oxidized from being a little past its season. Taste is quite concentrated Oktoberfest extract. Rich in caramel. Hops are there only as a bit of balance. Picking up the whiskey from the barrel, of course, but it blends nicely with the alcohol punch of the Oktoberfest brew.

Pours a dark, cola-black, with smallish head. Aroma is bourbon, maple syrup, some wood, dark fruit, chocolate. Flavor largely follows suit. Very sweet. ABV is kept under control as far as off-flavors or aromas. Soft, smooth mouthfeel. Very nice.

Kind of a cross between a mild and a British Brown. Aroma Zar dark malt and some toast. Flavors are like nose, mildly toffee sweet upfront with decent body and carbonation. Hint medicinal in the Finish. Nice beer.

Thanks B and A! Very nice beer kind of traditional which is a pleasant surprise. Aromas and flavors are dark malt, roast with a little bit of cocoa and dry grain. Nice balance between Sweet, Bitter and carbonation with a slightly chewy body. Finish is bittersweet and very drinkable. Easy drinking beer.

Bottled. Black and somewhat thin. Big cinnamon spice nose, pumpkin pie spice and chocolate, vanilla, bourbon. Sweet and spicy, pie spice is a bit overwhelming and I didn't feel it went all that well with the coffee and dark malts. A bit strange.

On tap at El Bait Shop, pours an opaque bright orangey yellow with a small white head. Aroma brings out lots of pithy stone fruits upfront, with biscuity malt and some pine. Flavour is earthy and musty in the hops department, with pine, pithy stone fruits, and bready malt. The hops don't seem all that vibrant and the whole thing has a rather musty character. Not a fan of this.
