Tap at Coda - clear orange - nose of candied orange peel, ginger, light tanginess, a touch of straw - flavor is spicy up front, with a touch of.phenolics, then becomes fairly sweet and a little syrupy in texture - some orange peel, ginger, honey - white pepper on the tail end, with lingering sweetness that is a little off-putting - meh.

Tap at Coda as "Lucille Black IPA" - pour is indeed black, with a soapy lace - nose is sweet and roasty black malt and green hoppiness - flavor is fairly bitter - the hop character is perhaps a bit too citric to.compliment the malt.character (almost tangy), and there is a slight garlic note - some vanilla and chocolate finish, a little "diesel" hop oiliness - smells better than it tastes.

Served in a tulip at the brewery - pours a dark straw with a pinkish hue - this is well-integrated fruit into the base saison - the soft texture and mild sweetness of the base beer are intact, as are the mild spicy phenolics - the raspberry is earthy, almost funky, with equal parts sweet flesh and a mild acids - a mild savor note to it - really pretty lovely and subtle.

Tap at the brewery - turbid gold - lovely subtle wheat saison - a moderate sweetness and soft wheat texture - notes of melon and esters of pear - moderate peppery notes and mild cobweb/earthy yeast character - nothing overly sweet or estery - restrained and tasty.

Tap at the brewery - thick black pour - medium sweet nose of complex maltiness - notes of licorice, raisin, plum, tamarind, coffee, light smoke, a touch of savory/umami character - oily mouthfeel - slick texture - flavor reminds me somewhat of Expedition Stout - hearty roast, light smoke, raisin, anise, dark chocolate, espresso - very well-masked alcohol for the strength, with no booziness what-so-ever - excellent rendition of style.

Tap at the brewery - lightly hazy gold - a light and subtle sour beer - a moderate lactic tartness starts things off - once that settles in, some white grape/must, light peach, tart apple - slight white wine vinegar, but mostly the sourness is manageable and not palate-fatiguing - finish has a mild buggy yeast quality - frothy mouthfeel and a pleasantly prickly acidity - overall a lot like a berliner in character - I like it.

[ As Coda The Black Seeds Lager ].Clear medium yellow color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, white head. Aroma is moderate malty, grain, pale malt, grass, fruity malt - hops, fruity. Flavour is moderate sweet with a average to long duration, sweet malt, fruity, grass. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. [20141220]

Tap at Coda - a much cleaner, brighter, more straightforward take than their last attempt at the style (Elwood, which was delicious) - while that beer has some interesting, earthy malt.depth, this beer has a much cleaner, simpler malt structure, allowing the citric and tropical nature of the hops to really pop - however, this also means there is less to balance the bitterness, so the finish.gets a little astringent - still fairly tasty, but I much prefer the Elwood.

Tap at Coda - fairly hearty, rich maltiness to this one, as you’d expect for the style, but not cloying/overly sweet, as can often be the case when brewers attampt this style - toffee and mild plum are cut by a mild smoke character and light savory qualities - slight acidity keeps the finish from being sticky - decent, but lacking the depth of better examples of the style.

A more or less clear one, pale golden in color and with a small, white head on top. The aroma is malty and grainy, perfumed and grassy with some piney hints. It’s medium bodied and dry on the palate, with a pleasant carbonation level. Grass, perfume, pale malts and a nice bitterness in the flavor. Some grass and bitterness towards the finish. A well crafted Helles, dry and easy drinkable, well worth a revisit. 141220
