Bungalow is no longer the cheapest place for craft beer in town, they’ve now matched most places at 700¥ a small and 1000¥ a “large” so much for prices on craft beer going down. >_< the last time I was here was late April and the price was 650¥ a small with one tap being pricier at 750¥... now everything on the menu is the same price again. Brimmer Roggenbier 5% 15 IBU A brewery we don’t see much of in Kansai and a style on the rare side (German Rye bier similar to a Weizen but made with rye not wheat). Amber-brown with a filmy beige head and a mild biscuity caramel aroma. Kind of light/watery in body with some Weizen like spices but also caramel rye biscuit malt notes. Refreshing.

Tap at Bungalow. Cloudy amber-orange with a low, fine head. Fruity esters in the nose, light spicy rye, light caramel. Big rye flavor, nicely spicy, creamy, banana and caramel. Nice creamy body. Pretty authentic.

Medium amber, very minty nose with a touch of Belgian yeasty funkiness. Medium body, with mint, apricots decent malt backbone. Hops lingering and don’t leave your mouth. Interesting, but not mind blowing

Draft @ Brew La La, Shinbashi. Pours light brown, not very carbonated. Nose is soft, light caramel, not really getting that saison yeast character. Tastes clean, light-bodied, almost watery. Light caramel, toffee, low bitterness. Drinks smooth but also does not have much character, bit boring, was expecting something more.

Keg at Ant ’n Bee - Tokyo. Pours clear red-brown with a tight, creamy tan head. The aroma holds medium roast malts, cocoa, light coffee. Medium sweet flavor with notes of dried berries, leather, bitter ashy roast, a little burnt rubber, earth. Light to medium bodied with fine carbonation. Finishes with bittersweet baking cocoa, further ashy roast, light espresso, scorched earth. Solid porter.

Pours dark brown, almost black - with a bit of beige foam. Aroma is really full of roast, dark bitter chocolate also there, but still quite soft overall. Tastes nicely dry and full of roast, cocoa power and dark chocolate. Brimmer has done a good job with this relatively low abv beer and added all the flavours you want to have from a sessionable porter. Believe me, I have sessioned with this in the past when they still had Brimmer Beer Box.

Poured amber, a bit brownish with some white head. Nice fruity nose, new world hops (Nelson, Mosaic etc.) are working nice on this one. Pear, passion fruit and papaya. Body was rather malty with some rough and grainy edges coming out because of malts. Overall a nice gulper though, not too fruity and still keeping Brimmer’s Pale Ale’s original character.
