Pitch black color. Light brown head. Toffee, caramel, nuts hide under the big dark chocolate nose. Nutty sweet, malty mouth that comes across like pouring just the right amount of frangelico into cold coffee. Sweet malty finish. Nice. First stout I would say that is specifically appropriate for Christmas.

Almost black. Aroma is rich and fruity - chocolate covered cherries, new suede jackets and a Luang Prabang-style coffee. Flavour is sweet, mocha-like, with only a light fruitiness. Heavy body, very smooth. Fairly simple, but tasty stuff.

Bottled, thanks IslandHaole! Cloudy amber. Flowery fruit aroma. Yeasty with notes of lemony hops and hay. Softly malty with lingering, resiny very bitter finish.

Bottled, thanks IslandHaole! Hazy pale yellow. Intense natural juicy passion fruit aroma. Fresh and lightly acidic, light bodied with a hint of bubblegum. Certainly not sweet, making it very refreshing. Extremely well made, other brewers of fruit beer should learn from Iwate Kura.

Bottled, thanks IslandHaole! Very black, brown, creamy head. Aroma of licorice and blackberries. Fruit and somewhat funky, like a Swiss/French/Belgian stout. Salty and fairly hoppy but also rathe sweet. Inky, bitter finish.

Medium amber color, with strong caramel and blueberry nose that is mildly tart. Mouth is very well balanced between caramel and blueberries, light bodieds and a refreshing finish

Brownish copper color, malty nose with cloves, oranges and a touch of rich caramel. It is lighter than I expected for the style with some interesting coriander and spices in the mouth and dry warming finish. This is much more phenolic. Smooth body, lots of bananas and cloves. Full body. Well balanced. Nice stuff

Densely sedimented orange-tan colour. Rich piney (think Deus) aroma with peach, grapefruit. Huge bitterness, but fresh rather than tongue-scraping. No resin, no crystal malt..cross-country skiing on a deserted mountain track. Pine needles, wood and grapefruit flavours. Full body and lots of sweet malts underpinning the hops. Similar to Hitachino’s Japanese Classic, I could drink this for days.

Pale straw colour. Gently effervescent. Big passion fruit aroma, with just a little bit of beer underneath. Tart, wheaty body with very fresh passion fruit character. Very tart - clean not wild. Flowery, fruity, dry finish.
