Iwate Kura Nagisa 5% It pours a nice amber-copper with a beige head of foam. A fruity floral almost soapy sweet aroma with some biscuity caramel notes. Medium bodied with some chewy malt character. The taste has a bit of a bready biscuit bite with fruity accents. Pretty nice. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

As Shunensai Original Ale - February 2016, bottle from Yamaoka. 4% Shunensai Original Ale 2016 4% Pouring an orange gold with a dense head of light beige foam it HS an enticing hop bouquet which features orange/lemon zest. Medium bodied it delivers an earthy pine bark bitterness, yeast notes of pepper/spice as well as hints of honeyed biscuit from the malts. Easy to drink but not pushing boundaries it is a satisfying ale.
Light lemon and citrus, wheat. Dry. Thin bodied. Not horrible but watery.

Tap at Watering Hole. Hazy, light straw color with a finger of white foam. Very faint lemon, citrus notes with a touch of wheat. Very dry on the palate. Thin-bodied. Not horrible, but watery. Finish has very little flavor....just wheat water.

Poured golden, maybe a bit hazy. Aroma was quite strong sansho, herbal and spicy, a bit of citrus. Taste is quite similar, mainly herbal and spices are dominating. Body itself is in the background and not really that interesting. I had a baked bread with pesto paste with that beer and that paired wonderfully, herbal characters from the beer and from the snack blended really nicely and taste was elevated a lot. Otherwise more like a curiosity, could drink one pint but maybe not that motivated to have several.

Pours amber, kind of hazy. Does not come with much of foam, just a bit, some lacings there as well. Aroma is mainly sweet, fruity and some custard cake with yuzu and pears. Taste is quite similarly sweet, custard, yuzu, pears and persimmons, bitterness there in the background, not really for balancing the beer - but making it definitely one notch better and more drinkable. Reminds me Hitachino Nest’s Nipponia, similar style and actually quite similar feel to the finished product.

35,5cl can from a supermarket in Tokyo. Pours dark cherry coloured with an off-white to beige head. Malty and caramelly aroma with some fruity and almost candy-like notes, hints of sour berries and citrus. Medium sweet with medium to moderate flavour intensity and a subtle bitterness. Quite nice in the end.

Bottle from Yamaoka. This is made with yeast collected from Lilium maculatum. Fruity nose, lightly spicy from the yeast, some light caramel malts. Amber-orange, hazy, with a low fine head. Spicy, light hops, caramel and some chocolate, light apple. Interesting, not at all wild tasting. Don’t really see what this yeast does for it. There is an interesting fruitiness, though. Light carbonation, medium body.
