Bottle from Tuckers Maltings. Great malty aroma leading to a lovely smooth stout with pleasant woody and roasty flavours and good bitterness from the chinook hops. I really liked this and the initial taste was great but sadly it tired the longer it lasted and I whilst I would happily seek this out again, one would be fine.

Bottle from Tuckers Maltings. This beer poured a dark amber colour and from the first whiff you knew that you were gonna’ be in for a bit of a roller coaster ride of flavours and aromas with this one. I got an almost sherry like aroma initially which then changed to a powerful alcohol sodden dried fruit smell (bit like Christmas pudding fruits steeping in sherry and brandy) with a slight woodiness on the edge. The taste was like a punch in the stomach in terms of the impact that it had on the mouth, amazingly complex, with incredible hop flavours, powerful alcohol sodden dried fruits, wonderful bitterness ooohh so much going on. This was a super barley wine and whilst it has modelled itself on an English Barley Wine style (according to the blurb) it was really only flirting on the peripheries as it was so different in many respects, I really enjoyed this another great beer from Sierra Nevada worth tracking down again.

12oz Bottle Pours out a nice amber topped with a very small head. A good easy to find BW. Pretty good.

Bottle. Pours a clear dark brown color with a Big longlasting off-white head. Sweet malty aroma with hints of caramel and some hoppy hints. Sweet malty fruity flavor hints of caramel and hops. Fruity malty and hoppy finish.

Bottle. Dark brown body with some translucence around the edges. One finger tan head that is thick and foamy. Aromas are of bread and roasted malt... a little weak. Mouthfeel is thinner than I expected and comes off as slightly watery. That said, flavor is a really nice dark malt dominated offering. Not really earthshatteringly complex, but pleasant, nevertheless. Still, I come away from this a little disappointed...

Bottle: Pours a clear, lighter gold with a medium white head. Malt and floral hops in the nose, taste is smooth up front and lots of floral hops in the tail. Some fruitiness, floral, and earth tones. Crisp, lingering hops finish.

Pours deep mahogany into a shaker. Tan medium to large conglomerate head leaves spider lacing as it slowly recedes. Sour, smoked chocolate and espresso aromas. Upfront sweet caramel and fizzy with a sharp, lasting bitter burnt chocolate finish.

(Draught at Monk’s Café, Stockholm) Amber colour with frothy, brief, off-white head. Fruity, hoppy nose with notes of orange peel and grapefruit. Fruity taste with orange, apricots, grapefruit, slight hints of pine needles and a hoppy, but not very bitter, finish. Rather dry. Lots of carbonation making it slightly prickly on the tongue. Lacking some body. Overall a well made, reliable, very tasty and very drinkable beer.
