Tiki Monkey: 2$ can from chalet premier in N Lima. Pour is hazy pale with a very thin pond scum head. Nose permeates environment immediately after popping the can, reminds me of canned fruit cocktail with those maraschino cherries in there. First taste is a tad bitter and boozy, not as civilized as the good tripels of the old country. Its not a 'deceptively' high alky content, it lets you be fully aware of its alky content. I'm also surprised this is not styled as some kind of fruit or flavored beer, it says nothing on its label about a belgian tripel, it just says tropical island ale. Ever so slight soft carbonation. I guess victory has rode the daylights out of this monkey thing. I remember tasting the golden monkey about a quarter century ago and gave it a 4.6/10 - so this is not as good as the original monkey. Now there are about a baker's dozen of these monkey adaptations? Go head victory, make 10 more renditions of pounding the monkey and you'll be on the same road as voodoo ranger, LoL! Well, one benny about this is; at the end of the can, I think my mind grapes think-pan grey matter is feeling a little softer. Yea!

"Bottled Nov. 11 2004".
Black pour showed a few streams of fizz. Warming roasty nose of stout malt, with alcohol up front.
The taste keeps up the warming alcohol, and adds a slight burn from dark roastiness. There is some oxidation in this 21-year old bottle, but the rest of the palate has held together very nicely.

12oz can. Vile citrus aroma couples really poorly with the estery Belgian yeast. Big boozy mess. Flavored bullshit. What a disgrace.

Can, from Trader Joe's, Chicago. Pours cloudy lemon yellow with a large foamy off-white head, sharp lemon drops aroma, adequate carbonation, medium bitter with strong lemon drops taste, pineapple, tropical flavors, thin body, long extremely flagrant finish. Feels very artificially tropical.

Draft pours clear yellow with a moderate head that reduces but lingers. Thin/silky mouthfeel with a pleasant flavor of white bread and a moderate bitter finish. Very nice!
