Description
Williams Bros Brewing Company is a Scottish family-owned microbrewery, founded and operated by brothers Bruce and Scot Williams.

The Williams Bros. Brewing Co. started life in the humble ‘Glenbrew’ homebrew shop in Glasgow. The first beer brewed was the ‘Fraoch’ Heather Ale at a small 5-barrel brewery in Taynuilt, After the 2nd year of brewing in the Taynuilt brewery and with demand far out stripping supply the brothers decided to expand and also to diversify the range with five Historic Ales. These ales were produced at the new purpose built brewery and premises in Craigmill, Strathaven from 1998-2004.

In 2004 the brothers took over the ‘Forth Brewery’ at Kellibank, Alloa where Maclay’s had been contract brewing and packaging their beers since the sale of their old Alloa brewery. It was at this stage in proceedings that Heather Ale Ltd became Williams Bros. Brewing Co.

Can from Aldi Inverurie. It pours slightly hazy golden - blonde with a decent white head. The aroma is fresh, juicy, tropical / stone fruits, peachy, papaya, persimmon, orange marmalade, lychee, touch green and some floury bread. The taste is smooth, no real bitterness, some dryness though, touch green, weedy, piney, pithy citrus, grapefruit, papaya, mango and some floury bread with a dry finish. Average body and average carbonation. Decent drinker.

Best before 05/25, I have found this bottle from Amstein, drinking it at the beginning of the night. A typical golden ale, rather light, malty with an aromatic bitterness and a hint of sweetness typical with this kind of beer, refreshing.

From Amstein, best before 05/25, drinking this can tonight with my wife. Good ipa, really smooth for the style, cereal with a good peachy note, yeasty, citrus and subtle bitterness at the final, citra hop, giving a herbal and soily note

Can from Aldi. Golden body with a light haze and a white head. Steady carbonation. Faint lacing. Aroma of orange and minerals. Flavour of lemon and orange zest. Medium body with a slick mouthfeel. Soft fizz. A well balanced, easy drinking IPA. Very good.

Two 440ml cans at Auntie Sue’s on 14th October 2025 while watching England playing football on TV. The cans were brought down for me by my mate Gordon from Scotland. Clear golden body, white topping. Citru and piney flavours, aroma also along the same lines. Pleasant enough and easy drinking from start to finish.

From Amstein, december 23, best before 05/25, opening this can yesterday after the knie in family. After a strong neipa, I drank this one before to sleep, right stout, note of chocolate, coffee, a bit fruity, floral bitterness, well balanced, interesting.

Can from Aldi Inverurie. It pours clear yellow with a decent white head. The aroma is quite bright and tropical, guava, mango, watermelon, papaya, starburst, quite juicy, but also sappy and sticky. The taste is firmly dry, quite clean, restrained bitterness, tropical fruits, guava, lychee, mango and the like, touch green, piney and pithy with a dry finish. Average body and moderate carbonation. Taste is not quite as bright as the aroma, but I like the dryness. Decent stuff.

Un territorio olfattivo dominato dal caffè. L'intensità olfattiva è elevata, permanendo in maniera apprezzabile.

Can from Aldi, Inverurie. It pours fairly clear golden - amber with a thick, fluffy white head. The aroma is sweet, sticky, zingy, tangy grapefruit, pomelo, lemon sherbet, tangfastics, resinous, oily vibes and sap. The taste is firmly dry, bitter, sappy, resinous, oily, pine, touch green, peppery spice, touch of toffee, grapefruit and pomelo with a drying, pithy finish. Medium body and moderate carbonation. No complaints. A solid west coaster that is light on the wallet.
