Description
We launched Fullsteam in 2010 with a single mission: to explore what it means to be a Southern brewery. Sometimes that definition means brewing with foraged and farmed adjuncts. Other times it means making innovative beers with local grain. And sometimes it means just making true-to-style beers more Southern in temperament.

In our nearly ten years focused on this mission, Fullsteam has purchased more than $500,000 in Southern-farmed ingredients. We track our commitment to the Southern Beer Economy in our monthly farm reports.

Whether it’s the beer we brew, the food we cook, or the events we host, we believe in connecting people to the land and to one another. And through it all, we aim to keep it fun. Beer should be fun.

Lots of anise and a hint of vanilla. Certainly tastes like root. Pours black with decent head. Light herbal bitter finish. Thick consistency. Odd but not necessarily bad. Tap at Churchkey.

Hazy orange tinted body with a copper coloured glow and a very thin, off-white head. Aroma of sweet potatoes, earth, malt, caramel, toffee, yeast and a bit of caster sugar. Medium-bodied; Earthy and rather starchy potato flavour with some grain and alcohol noticeable, coupled with a sweet and yeast finish. Aftertaste shows a lot of caramel and potatoes with a bit of earthy malt and grain around. Overall, a rather smooth beer for the style with a flavour as you’d expect from the name - nice to sample, and not a bad beer, but nothing amazing. I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Southern State in Charleston, South Carolina on 19-April-2015 for US$5,43 a few hours ago, sampled at my hotel room in Charleston on 19-April-2015.
