Thanks to Illinismitty, a new member in Tennessee, for this one! This pours with a disappointingly small head of off-white. Medium red/orange hazy body. Big ’C Hop’ aroma. Sweet in the start, the dry bitterness builds nicely providing a well balanced finish.

On tap at Founders. Light amber-colored body, thin off-white head. Hoppy, piney, and bitter, with little malt development or depth. As badnewsbeers writes, it’s like sipping their Harvest Ale, but without anything interesting on the malt front to balance out the Amarillo hops. Considering the IPA, Pale Ale, and Extra Pale Ale were already on tap, is another pale ale necessary? I don’t think so. Thankfully the Breakfast Stout was as good as ever.

Very dark amber with a decent lacing for something with such high alcohol - piney hop aroma, with copious amounts of caramel malt, herbs, and some barleywine smells (flaked oats, toffee) - this tastes very similar to the Yulesmith I just had, just amped up a bit - lots of malt sweetness battles a huge hop bite - meanwhile, a subtle smokiness lingers in the background, adding an interesting dimension to this ale - this is some seriously ass-kicking stuff - a little hot right now, but with some aging, who knows? Thanks to OhioDad for this bottle.

Beautiful brownish copper color with substantial frothy tanish head. Aromas are sweet and floral with a bit of sharp hops. Flavor is well balanced, mixing back and forth between sweet caramel flavors and crisp floral hops. Excellent brew again from Founders.

Outstanding brew! So dark with a nice dark khaki head with some orangish tint. Aroma is of coffee, spice and malt. Flavor is a punch in the mouth of dark fruit, burnt malt and coffee with spice undertones that pleasantly highlight the other flavors. You can feel a bith of alcoholic warmth as the silky liquid coats your palate. Top notch!

Pour is a shiny black with a small tan head. Aroma is deffinatly coffee. Reminds me when you first open a can of coffee and that wonderful smell hits you. Flavor is espresso with a milky sweetness. After the swallow notes of chocolate and vanilla are left on the tounge. Good coffee brew without the coffee bitterness. Another tasty brew from Founders.

Pours dark gold into shaker. Quickly dissipating, medium head. Slightly hazy -- leaves little lacing. Citrus and pine notes. Very hoppy with banana notes. Bitter finish.

Poured into a trappist glass. Varieted head -- large and small bubbles. Very slight malty nose. Murky red with floating yeast. Malty on first sip, hoppy on second with a rye, bitter finish. Fizzy and rather well balanced.

Pours essentially black, with a brown head that actually faded in color to tan (first time I’d seen that happen). Full meringue head and heavy lacing. Strong citric hop aroma, with notes of grapefruit. Some roasted malts also apparent in the nose, showing dark chocolate. Big chocolate coffee flavor with resiny grapefruit hop flavors sitting side by side. Light roast in the finish, with a lingering medium hoppiness. Like a very hoppy stout, but lightened in body with the rye - a good idea! Very soft palate with good natural-feeling carbonation.

Bottle Pours a cloudy dark redish brown. I am daring to "dance with the ’devil’ " on this one. The viscosity seems very high. Syrupy almost. Extremely dense and creamy beige head and thcik sticky lasting lacing. Aroma is a strong sweet malty carmel. Vanilla, candied sugars are also apparent. Don’t right off notice more than a typicl IPA hop aroma. Maybe less than typical. Flavor however betrays its style. Malts are sweet and heavy. The Bitering hops come in late and make you forget everything else. Very smooth heavy feel and very soft carbonation. Very strong, bitter and at 13%, I dared to dance and I am afraid my dance card is full. Impressive....how is this not a BW again...?
