GBBF Day 1. Bottle, thanks to Fergus. Light haze on this amber beer. Good pale cream coloured head. Light crisp palate. Sourish orange over a little creamy malt, thin. Mild minerals. Comes together quite well.

Bottle shared at GBBF ’13, 13/08/13. Murky dark orange amber with a thin off white head. Nose is tarte fruit, candied sugars, yeast notes, citrus fruit, grass. Taste comprises earthy hops, grass, orange pith, yeast. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, dry finish. Pretty mediocre APA.

Bottle from GBBF 2013 drunk at home. Orange gold hazy colour with a thick beige head. Belgian yeast and American hop aroma. It’s ok as a Belgian hoppy beer. A little lacking in character, but the flavours are solid enough. I think like all the Indigo Imp beers I’ve had, they lack body especially on the finish, a lack of fullness, they dissipate into a forced carbonated bitterness. It’s ok, I am sure a lot better fresh. OK, Belgian style ale with some American hops.

Bottle at GBBF 2013. Hazed orange colour with a persistent white head. Aroma is sweet caramel and red berry. Chalk. Flavour is weird berry tart and alcohol. Pretty average.

Bottle from GBBF 2013 drunk at home. Hazy orange gold with thick thick rocky beige head. Plain toffee aroma. I mean it does smell of Thorntons plain toffee. Which is fine, but not sure I really like this beer. It’s ok, but dull. Some bite on the finish. It’s like a toffeeish bitter. OK, but nothing to excite the beer drinker in me. Oh and it’s oxidised as well.

Bottle from GBBF 2013 drunk at home. Belgian yeast on this? Esters. It’s either that or it’s infected. Some ok malt, average hop. Nothing exceptional. I’d say this was a Belgian Ale, but what do I know. Drinkable enough.

Bottle from GBBF 2013 drunk at home. Dark brown near black beer with a lasting thin tan head. Some choc on the aroma and flavour and some newspaper as well. Malts could be a bit fuller to be honest. Some slightly sour fruit on this. Slight bonfire. Yes a bit of sourness. Needs more malts for me for a porter. Sour dark fruit and smoke are quite interesting though. Still it’s just slightly below average.

Bottle from GBBF 2013 drunk at home. Didn’t know it was bottle conditioned although it does say on the bottle so this has some yeast in. Hazy gold lasting beige head. Some citrus hop on the aroma. Some lasting tangerine fruit in the mouth. Touch of bitterness on the finish. It’s ok. Not too exciting but fine. almost a bit of perfumed hop towards the finish.
