THE UNEXAMINED BEER IS NOT WORTH BREWING
There comes a time in every man’s life when he must ask himself – Should I continue working my steady and lucrative job or should I just quit and make beer? Well, for Norfolk-native Porter Hardy, the decision was a no-brainer. In 2012, the former home-brewer (and now former lawyer) traded his ties in for tap handles, and never looked back. With a stellar team around him, Porter entered un-fermented waters as one of the original craft breweries to set up shop in Hampton Roads.

A clear, amber colored beer with a small, dense, light beige head. The aroma has some maltyness tending towards toffee, some piney hops and a touch of brown sugar. It’s quite sweet on the palate, with toffeeish malts and a hint of fruity, grassy hops. Decent bitterness all the way. Full body and pleasant carbonation. Bitter, malty finish. Pretty decent this one, but a tad boring and one dimensional. 140118

GABF 2013. Recommended to me by 3fourths. Pours a slightly hazy orange appearance with an off white head. Dry, orange citrusy, very herbal/grassy, peppery, barnyard aroma. Easy drinking, spicy peppery, orange citrusy, soft pils malty, a touch bready flavor. Chill beer that I’m glad MJ recommended that I try.
