Bottle @ fonefan tasting. Small head with short duration. Color is amber. Aroma and taste are vanilla, wood, caramel, bourbon, malt, fruits and not many hops. Sweet finish with some alcohol.

Draft. Light toffee apple malt aroma. Golden yellow with moderate head. Sweet buttery caramel malt and mildly bitter hay flavor. Pretty solid Maerzen.

Draft sample @ Ft. Wayne Oktobeerfest. Earthy orange hops and caramel malt aroma. Hazy honey gold with a moderate off-white head. Flavor in line with the nose - Earthy orange hops and caramel malt flavor. Medium body, soft carbonation.

Draft. Lime, orange and orange peel aroma. Cloudy golden yellow with moderate head. Sweet orange-lime malt and moderately bitter orange peel/quinine flavor. Like the malt but hops a bit harsh.

Draft. Bland fruity malt aroma. Hazy dark gold with a small off-white head. Dry apricot malt and grassy herbal hops flavor. Light body, moderate carbonation.

Bottle. Cloudy, deep amber body. Short, off-white head. Aroma of raw grain, leafy hops, resin and pine. The flavor is lightly to moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It finishes lightly sweet and moderately bitter and lightly acidic. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Unclean mouthfeel. Mostly resin with some vinegary notes. Tasted old even though it was fresh.

Bottle. Muddy brown body. Fizzy off-white head. Aroma of dirty peat, roasted malts, caramel. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes lightly to moderately sweet and lightly bitter. Thin to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Strong peat and smoke flavors, raw, leafy hops, but the flavors, what few are there, are muddled. Watery for the a Scottish ale. Slight metallic notes round out this forgettable beer.

Pours dark brown with a short tan head. Aroma is caramel, nuts... Flavour is caramel malt..very slight woody bitter. Mild, pleasant...nothing fancy, just good.

Sample from 2009 bottle at the Blarney Wine tasting on 03/16/2013: Clear copper-brown color with a medium light beige head that recedes steadily to an outer ring. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of bourbon, malt and caramel. Full-bodied with flavors of oaky bourbon, brown sugar, malt and mild hops. The finish is sweet with a caramel malt and oak aftertaste. Solid overall.

Draft. Cloudy deep amber body. Short, off-white head, rapidly diminishing. Aroma of sweet cherries, sherry, chocolate, raisin, alcohol. The flavor is heavily sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes moderately to heavily sweet and lightly bitter. Medium to full body, velvety texture, soft carbonation. Boozy in the finish along with heavy sweetness. A sipping beer.
