Sample from 2009 bottle at the Blarney Wine tasting on 03/16/2013: Clear copper-brown color with a medium light beige head that recedes steadily to an outer ring. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of bourbon, malt and caramel. Full-bodied with flavors of oaky bourbon, brown sugar, malt and mild hops. The finish is sweet with a caramel malt and oak aftertaste. Solid overall.

Draft. Cloudy deep amber body. Short, off-white head, rapidly diminishing. Aroma of sweet cherries, sherry, chocolate, raisin, alcohol. The flavor is heavily sweet and lightly bitter. It finishes moderately to heavily sweet and lightly bitter. Medium to full body, velvety texture, soft carbonation. Boozy in the finish along with heavy sweetness. A sipping beer.

Opaque black beer, thin brown head. Smooth silky palate. Smooth dark malt with a lovely balance of sweet coconut, subtle vanilla, sublte oak and coffee. Traces of chocolate and red berry fruits. Smooth oak rounded bourbon. All flavours in really good balance. A fantastic BA Stout.

Slightly hazy dark red - brown beer. Residual off white head. Silky smooth palate, a little dry. Low carbonation. Light oaky bourbon nose. Bittersweet dark toffee. Bags of bourbon, lots of smooth oak but with just a light touch of vanilla oak and coconut. Semi dry finish. Boozy warming afterglow. Delicious!

2007 waxed 22oz bottle shared by Dallas
Appearance: Clear copper/amber with a medium off-white head and spotty lacing
Aroma: Bourbon, vanilla and woody
Taste: Toffee, bourbon and vanilla
Interesting how a 5 year old DIPA evolved. This has turned into a BA Barley Wine. It was good.

750 ml bottle thanks to Dallas. The bottle is 5 years old! Pours a clear copper color with a medium white head. A rich nose of sweet bourbon and light caramel. The flavor has developed nicely: not a IPA or a IIPA certainly the hops have faded, though I canβt say what they were originally. A a sweet but mellow bourbon flavor with some heat, vanilla, sweet fruit and caramel. Very much like an American BW. Good.

750ml bottle shared by Levi. Unfiltered amber-brown, beige head. Steady bourbon in the aroma, lagavulin? Quite an awesome beer, remains light and fluffy on the palate despite the big ABV and bourbon tones. Smooth woody malt tones. Cognac, some dark fruit. Solid, world class offering. The barrel aging, while a little in your face, complements the style well.
