It was sometime in the early 2000s that one member of the community had an idea to utilize the excess harvest by making cider. Initially a hobby, Ampleforth Abbey Drinks is now run by lay staff for the benefit of the community, supplying many local farmshops, visitors centres and pubs with our award-winning produce.

Sampled @ RB Danish Summer Gathering 2013 day 1, Ulfborg. Bottle. No head, clear golden color. Aroma is very weird and imo not really inviting. Sweetness, chemical. Taste apple, sweetness and again a bit chemical. Very weird. Low body and carbonation. Not my thing I guess.

Bottle @ Danish Ratebeer Summer Gathering, Ulfborg. Medium head with short duration. Color is golden. Aroma and taste are apples, sulphur, fruits and has a citric, sparkling finish.

Bottle, 6.5% Clear yellow with tiny diminishing white head. Aroma is apple, fruit and sulfur. Flavour is apple, sulfur, medium sweet, fruit, medium dry and a little acid.

50 cL bottle. Pours clear and golden yellow with a small white head. Aroma is apple peel, light sulphorish and bretty. Tart, sulphorish and dry apples. Dry fruity finish. Lasting sulphorish finish.

Bottle from Uncle Tel who got it from I know not where. Reddish-brown pour with a beige head. Aromas of sweet spice, berries and toffee. Flavours of baked apple, sweet spice and a little chocolate. Quite a dry number. Quite nice.

Bottle 330ml. @ [ Edinburgh Danish Invasion Tasting) by cgarvieuk - Edinburgh ].Unclear medium to dark amber colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to beige head. Aroma is light moderate malty, caramel, moderate yeasty, phenol, alcohol, candy sugar. Flavour is moderate to light light heavy sweet and light bitter with a average to long duration, yeast, fruity - candy sugar, phenol. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20120422]
