On tap at zeitgeist. Pint. $4.50. 1 finger head. Fades to nothing but a think coffee colored line. Black. Amber edges. Mild nuttiness and dark malts. Some vanilla. On the nose. Taste is roasted almost effervescent. Porter taste with more smoke and Oakiness. Solid carbonation. Medium body.

Draught at Toronado. Black with a low head. Nose of chocolate, Oreos, coffee, cream, oats, grains, and vegetables. Full and creamy, with light fruit. A bit too vegetal, but otherwise nice.

Aroma is light with some berries and hints of roasted malt. Flavour has roasted malt, some coffee and licorice. Quite empty and a bit watery finish with lingering roastiness. Also some hops. Easy-going, I like the roastiness here.

On tap. Pours with a clear deep brown hued body with a lasting tan head. Aromas are of toast, caraway, pine, spruce, mint, cola, rosemary, leather, pencil shavings, earthy, bay leaves. Flavors are of leather, pencil shavings, extremely dry tannin, oaky character, nutty. Medium fruit esters. Light herbal character. Low carbonation. A bit odd and messy.

Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, chocolate, light bread, light moderate hoppy, pine - grapefruit. Flavour is moderate to light heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, roasted, roasted - burnt bitter, chocolate - caramel sweet, hoppy background, crispy hops. On tap. Pours an opaque black with a dense and handsome beige head leaving laces. Fresh, lightly minerally aroma with a nice chocolate edge. Medium-bodied, somewhat excessive carbonation. Soft chocolate accents and some dark dried fruit. Lightly malt bitter finish. Very pleasant and quaffable, and the best Moonlight I’ve had for a long time. 180412
