Description
Our 17th Century brewery is located right in the heart of beautiful Shropshire. Nestled in the small market town of Bishop's Castle, we’re proud to brew our legendary Three Tuns ales from a charming Victorian brewery tower, just a stone’s throw away from English/Welsh border and unspoilt countryside.

It’s 1642 and a half-timbered building is built in Salop Street Bishop’s Castle to brew real ale for the coaching inn next door, the Three Tuns Inn and our real ales come to life for the first time.

The current classic tower brewery with a 10BBL plant was built in 1888. The beers were sold under the name Three Tuns. Brewing ceased in September 2001 due to problems with beer quality due to some equipment needing replacing with brewing being carried out by Hobson's.

in January 2003, our brewery is bought by John Roberts’ Brewing Co.Ltd. - the name of which celebrates our historic association, over about a century, with the Roberts family. Our brewery is fully refurbished, ensuring its brewing future for many years to come.

Cask, half-pint in The Castle Hotel, Bishops Castle on 7th July 2018. This beer is brewed with Honey and Elderflowers and both are evident in the aroma and flavour, golden bodied, white crown. Not really by thing, but I knew that when I asked for it!

7th July 2018. Gravity poured cask pint in Bishop Castle's Town Hall. Amber body, clean and clear, off-white affair on top. Nice easy drinking blend with a semi-sweet malty lead in the nose and taste, balanced by some bittering hop action.

7th July 2018, cask half-pint in The Castle Hotel, Bishops Castle (about 100 metres from the brewery. Clear golden pour, thin white head. The nose had equal measures of light maltiness and mild citrus esters, the taste was also a blend of those two ingredients, giving an easy drinking summertime brew that isn't going to test your senses too greatly, pleasant enough though.
