Sample at Great Taste of the Midwest on 08/09/2014: Pale brownish-amber color with a thin beige head that diminishes quickly to an outer ring. Sticky sheets of lacing. Aroma of toasted malt and caramel. Light-bodied with flavors of mild hops and caramel malt. The finish is malty up front with a short earthy hop aftertaste. Decent overall.

Bottle. Very dark amber color, tan head. Aroma of floral pine, caramel biscuit. And someone wrote "morning breath" in my notebook, but it’s not my handwriting, so I won’t count it in the score. Taste is very bitter caramel.

Nonic pint draft at the Bluegrass tap room on East Main Street in Louisville, Kentucky. The pour is a clear golden copper with a one inch well formed white head. The aroma is a dusty floral with a bit of cracker malt. The taste is cracker malt forward followed by the dry floral bitter hops. A bit of dirt shows in the taste as it warms. The palate is medium to light bodied with soft carbonation and the dry softly bitter finish. Tasty enough Pale Ale.

Draft: Pours dark, cloudy brown with a small, off-white head. Rye whiskey aroma. Caramel malt, rye, chocolate flavour. Fairly heavy bourbon notes throughout. A pleasure.
