Draught at the Great Japan Beer Festival, Osaka, 2011. Pale yellow color, cloudy. It has a nice aroma of kinkan citrus fruits but not much else. Fruity flavor, lots of citrus, can’t taste much else beerwise, but it is tasty and balanced for a fruit beer. Not overly sweet.

Draught at the Eni-Bru 4th Anniversary Celebration. Medium gold color with a thin, fine, head. Light malt and honey aroma, fruity, with peach, pear. Nice and orignal. Sweet honey flavor with stewed fruits and alcohol, a bit “spirit” tasting, with something that seems like shochu in the alcohol heat. Clean and crisp, though a bit too sweet. Ok.

Draught at Q-Brick. Aroma of Islay Scotch: peat, a bit of caramel, almost only peat smoke, though not overbearingly strong. Medium to dark golden color with a low head. Flavor brings out much more along with the peat: honey, crackers, sweet malt, some fruit, maybe peaches, plus biggish peat smoke and a light alcohol burn. Smooth, with rather low carbonation. Full and rich. Very interesting and strange, but it works.

Very odd artificial orange color. Minerally malty body, oranges. Straightforward and simple, but not so exciting.

Draught at Q-Brick. Bright red—just a bit darker than candy apple. Fine, low, pink head. Fruity, hoppy aroma, lots of citrus and a touch of caramel. Very hoppy flavor—citrus, grass. Rather heavy malt with a slight dark fruitiness and a bit of caramel. Nice bitterness. Very tasty lager, not really a Vienna, but great hops. The added color diminishes my drinking pleasure.

Draught at Beer Belly. Pale golden color, no real mango color. Aroma of rich pilsner malts and mango. Nice malty flavor balances the fruitiness, which is far from over-powering. Nice mango freshness, and a bit of grassy hops and bitterness. Well-balanced and tasty, though I prefer their regular lagers.

Draught at Eni-bru. Pale gold with lace. Hoppy, citrus, peppery aroma. Big, wonderful flavor with great cascade hoppiness. Rich, juicy malts, perfect bitterness. Very complex, with light fruits, and an almost Riesling-like dryness. Light, crisp, well-carbonated body. Perfectly done, wonderful. Another great lager from these guys.

Bottle, 6 months old. Aged for 1000 days before bottling. Deep dark gold with a fine, sturdy, low head. Aroma of honey, fruits, like a well-aged tripel. Oxidized, mellow, fruity flavor with lots of honey, bread, citrus, present alcohol, pears, and herbs. Some grassy hops as well as a nice lingering bitterness. Basically tastes like the aged triples from Belgium I have had. Nice, though I would have liked to try it fresh, as most triples are better fresh. Very authentic Belgian yeast character.

Bottle from Yamaoka. Deep gold, very cloudy with a low, lacy head. Fragrant, estery aroma with banana, spices (cloves and coriander) rich malts, bread. Bready flavor, somewhat creamy, with banana, clove, light citrus. Belgian yeast but the esters also seem a bit Bavarian. Slight hops at the finish. Complex and clean. Restrained in its additives. Very nice at first, though it became less interesting over time, getting a bit watery and dull. Drink it well chilled and quickly.

Tap at Barley. Hopped with Northern Brewer. Deep dark gold with lace. Belgian yeast aroma: grapes, grains including rice, banana ro melon. Huge fruity flavor, peaches, prea, almost tropical. Good bitter finish. Extremely thick and rich, maybe too much? A bit too sweet and thick, but lovely, with amazing fruit flavors. Great.
