Smooth dry barleywine. Definitely American rather than English, but no hop character left to speak of. Woody, light, smooth some slight apple cinnamon notes

Tap at the Utsunomiya Beer Fest. Creamy, floury, malts and bit of sweetness. Like an extra creamy Pilsner. Nice enough.

Tap at the fest. Almost purple in colour. Loads of fruit I guess. Nice. Blueberry, sweetness, but with big maltiness. Quite thick. Initially malty sweetness, finish has a bit of fruity sourness.

Tap at Blue Magic. Light gold, very clear. Aroma is lightly hoppy, lightly sweet. Taste has bit of sweets, crisp and grainy, light cream, bitterness at the end. Bit of plastic. Nice enough though.

Tap at Popeye. 2010 version. Clear amber colour, not much head. Aroma is fruity, steeped berries, spicy caramel if that makes any sense, popcorn. Taste is lovely, soft and bit sweet, hint of booze, but not in your face, toffee apple, Caramel. Dangerously drinkable for the strength. Hides the alcohol very well. Very much enjoying these Japanese Barley Wines at the moment. Lovely!
