Tap at Bier Cafe Jan. Dark amber colour, small golden head. Aroma is caramel, quite malty. Taste similar, caramel, toffee, sweetness. Nice enough if a little unexciting.

Tap @ the source. Straw yellow pour, lightly, very lightly cloudy. Cereal nose, quite malty biscuits there. Taste has tart fruity edge, not so clearly from peaches but if the name is Monotaro then they just have to be peaches. Biscuity bready finish, light tartness lingering. Refreshing albeit relatively simple.

Tap @ the source. Dark brown pour, some light brown foam on the top. Dry roast malt nose, bit ashy. Tastes roasyed, some light berry sweetness, good body althoigh alc is probably not very high. Quite decent dry stout, nice ashy overall feel, roasted body. Pleasant.

Tap @ the source. 6,5% alc. Light orange pour, some white bubbles on top. Fruity nose, almost tart apple, light crisp biscuits. Tastes tart, fresh, malty base but fruity at the same time. Biscuity base, light alcohol kick in the end. Dry finish with light herbal bitter linger. Tasty.

330 ml bottle from the source (actually went to the brewery and got that from the brewery shop). Pours golden, lightly cloudy. Some white foam on the top, pretty good retention. Biscuity nose, lightly bready and sweet, something a bit mineral focused also there. Tastes bitter, light and bread, easy to drink.

Bottle from the source. Dark golden pour, brownish-amberish. Quite a decent foamy head there. Nose has some tart wet malts, wet carton, some slightly sweet fruitiness behind grainy base. Tastes quite tart, intense, more of these grains, lightly fruity, maybe that's even strawberry, who knows. Bit average and not well balanced at all, meh.

Tap @ Tsukuba Craft Beer House. Pours lightly hazy, straw yellow, looking somewhat watery. Has some white foam on top but not that much. Estery nose, light wheaty sour feel there as well, lightly spicy. Taste is pretty yeasty, a bit too much of it even perhaps, estery but somewhat messy, not really that fruity as I like - although there is some sweetness. Finish is grainy, light herbal bitterness lingering. Overall, your pretty average Japanese weizen, drinkable but at the same time also forgettable.

Pours hazy brown, just a few bubbles, sweet caramel nose with a bit of roast. Taste is full, has some roast and caramel. Bitter. Decent body and flavour bouquet for this relatively low abv. Pretty enjoyable as it is.

Keyaki fall 2016. Malty nose with honey and caramel and some alcohol on the nose. Syrupy body, more sweetness with some bitterness that kicks in mid-palate to finish. Well-balanced. Maybe a tad young, but I’m not a big barley wine fan anyway. Decent I guess. --- Beer merged from original tick of Nine-Tailed Fox Barleywine on 18 Sep 2016 at 23:39 - Score: 7

Tap at Koenji CBM. Pale purple color with lace, hazy. Nose is blueberry and wheat. Sweet blueberry flavor, light tartness, a bit of wheat. Nice enough but too sweet and well, boring.
