Description
Commenced Brewing 2004 at Mimram Rd, Hertford as Red Squirrel Brewery. Moved in 2011 to Berkampstead Rd, Potton End after merging with a local Wine Producer. Rebranded to Mad Squirrel in February/March 2017 with some core range beers being renamed and others simply changing name from Red to Mad.

A Forward thinking, contemporary brewery based just outside of London, at the foot of the Chiltern Hills. We have continually grown and evolved, often in unexpected ways. Always with a boundless enthusiasm for quality, an inquisitive approach to flavour and a restless desire to better ourselves.

Sample @ Torben Matthews smagning. Pours opaque dark red-brown with small white head. Aroma is roasted malt with hints of smoked bacon and tobacco. Taste is light bitter and medium sweet. Body is light oily with soft carbonation. Finish is medium long with notes of roasted malt.

Sample @ Torben Matthews smagning. Pours hazy brown-red with off-white head. Aroma is sweet fruits and malt with hints of grapefruit peel. Taste is medium bitter. Body is watery to light oily and flat. Finish is bitter and dry with hints of iron.

Clear dark brown with a beige head. Aroma is sweet, malty, caramel, a little roasted malt and chocolate. Flavor is quite sweet and moderate bitter. Dry and roasted moderate bitter finish. 170412

Sample @ Torben Mathews tasting. Nice head with good duration. Color is dark brown. Aroma and taste are rich licorice, roast malt, caramel, coffee notes of chocolate, and notes of smoke. Oily palate.

Cask (Harp, Covent Garden, London) - Very dark brown, almost black, with a small tan head. Roasted malt, plain chocolate and coffee in the aroma. Roasted malt, liquorice, coffee and Bournville chocolate feature in the smooth taste.

(Cask at White Horse, Parsonโ€™s Green, London, 26 Nov 2011) Dark brown colour with frothy, beige head. Malty, roasted nose with notes of dark bread, caramel and raisins. Malty, roasted taste with caramel, dark bread, raisins, burnt sugar and a slightly roasty bitterness. Medium body, with balanced sweetness. Well balanced and tasty. Nice one.

RBESG August 2011, The Harp. Black with a small tan head. Malty aroma with licorice and chocolate, and a touch of dried fruit. Sweet fruity and chocolate-y flavour
