Cask at the Land of Liberty, Peace & Plenty, Heronsgate. Perfectly conditioned, bright ruby red with a tan head, a pleasure to look at on a sunny afternoon sitting in the garden of this wonderful pub. Rich malt aromas; fruity and rich in the mouth, with lots of roasted malt flavour; finish is dry and nutty. An excellent mild, proof that a good beer can be brewed at 3.7%.

Cask at Wenlock Arms, London. A golden beer with a white head. The aroma is sweet and very fruity. While the flavor is sweet wheaty and fruity - among them banana, as well as some esters, leading to a dry wheaty finish.

[i] Cask at Oxford Beer Festival 12-10-07[/i] Poured black in colour, aroma was lacking slightly though there was some bitter notes, tasted a bit too sweet for me, there was some roastiness but it was struggling to come through.

Cask gravity at St Albans BF 2007. Gold with a haze, thin bubbly beige head. Grapefruit American hop aroma. Quite a sweet grapefruit I thought. Could really do with more malt. Hops are classy. Good grapefruit. It’s an APA.

(Cask at Wenlock Arms, London, 10 Aug 2007) Black colour with frothy pale brown head. Roasted nose with distinct notes of coffee and hints of chocolate. Roasted, malty taste with coffee, chocolate and blackberries. Dry with balanced bitterness in the finish. First beer I’ve tried from this brewery, but hopefully not the last. Very nice.

I had two pints, both poured black and one had a little rocky brown head while the other had a very thick creamy one. Both looked fantastic and there was a lovely malty aroma. The taste was nice and burned with an oily hint and definite sweetness that by no means overpowered the pint and made it insipid. The alcohol gave it a nice warming note, but did not dominate the beer.

Pours a golden, slightly hazey colour with a reasonable amount of white head. Strong citric aroma and a slightly unusual taste in that there’s a bit of a metallic edge and some straw flavours. Quite nice, but not, perhaps, one of their better beers.

Cask-conditioned at the Nelson, Wheathampstead, Herts. A near black mild with reddish tones. Aroma of raisins, walnuts and roasted malt. Flavours of coffee and dates with a dry finish. Good.

Cask/gravity at The St Albans Beer Festival 28 Sep 06. Dark brown coloured. A small lasting off-write head. Malty flavour with hardly any other taste impressions after that.

Clear and deep copper coloured with a brownish tint. Thin layer of foam. Ripe fruit notes in aroma. Moderate bitter sweet flavour with a component of dark berries and malty hints behind. Rounded taste. An average English bitter (Half on gravity at The St Albans Beer Festival, 28.09.2006).
