Sample at GABF 10/05/2019, thanks to kathryneels for assistance with note-taking. Black pour with a medium tan head that diminishes gradually to a film. Small patches of lace. Bourbon, oak and malt aromas. Full-bodied with an oaky bourbon character and notes of vanilla and burnt malt. The finish is oaky with a bourbon and malt aftertaste. Pretty good overall.

Draft. A- Lavender, subtle grains. A- Yellow color, clear liquid, white head. T- Lavender, mild straw. P- Light body, average texture, average carbonation, balanced finish. O- A very nice and refreshing surprise. The lavender is very present and adds a lovely soft herbal touch to the base beer. I am shocked at how well this worked.

Draft. A- Orange juice, gummies. A- Gold color, clear liquid, white head. T- Oranges, gummies, soapy, mild bitterness. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, slightly bitter finish. O- Obviously a tribute to Scott Frost coming back to Nebraska for football. However, Thunderhead also obviously needs to learn what a NEIPA is. This was not hazy at all. It was a clear brilliant golden orange color. Nose ,matched an NEIPA, but taste followed a traditional IPA just a bit stronger. Tempted to adjust the style but I have a hard time calling this a NEIPA. Decent.

Deep dark brown coloured body with a thinnish tan head that fades quite quickly. Aroma of alcohol, light smoke, a touch of peat, tons of roasted malts, a lot of pitted fruits with some caramel around the edges and a dose of chocolate and raisins to sweeten up the vibe. Medium-bodied; Strong rich chocolate and deeply roasted malts with a lot of brown sugar and a touch of the fruity sweetness, but not much in terms of complexity or especially the depth. Aftertaste shows some bitterness from all the malts with a lot spice robustness in almost every aspect of the beer from a white pepper and more astringent flavour there than i'm used to, with a subtle yet unknown quantity of the smoke that is picked up at the end and lingering over all the stages for a long time. Overall, a nice and robust sweet imperial stout that shows well, but leaves a lot of unfinished and meaningless profiles, but with a deep and very bittering flavour. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Omaha, Nebraska on 06-February-2018 for US$1,69 sampled at home in Washington on 09-August-2018, my ninth year anniversary from 09-August-2009.

From a 75 cl bottle. This was the most difficult beer to open that I have ever experienced -- corked, capped and waxed. I had to strain cork bits through my teeth. That said, the beer, once poured, is an opaque black with a dark tan head. Aroma of oak and bourbon. Flavors same with a smooth charred cardboard taste. Surprisingly light bodied but boozy. Not a great beer but not boring, and from a small brewery in Nebraska. Bravo!
