Description
The more than 725-year-old beer tradition in Litovel dates back to 1291, when King Wenceslas II granted the city the mile right. This privilege allowed only the Litovel burghers to brew and tap beer within a radius of one medieval mile, i.e. in a vicinity of approximately seven kilometres. In the Middle Ages, beer was brewed in a brewing house, which was then located at Litovel 57. Those with brewing rights were among the most affluent people, and played a significant role in managing the city. Even contemporary Litovel beer is brewed using classic processes, the roots of which date back to this glorious historical era.

Bottle, courtesy of fonefan. A clear, golden beer with an off-white head. Quite citrusy nose, just a touch of pale malts in the back. The flavor too is on the hoppy side, with some pale malts. Medium body, pleasant carbonation. An honest beer that is too one dimensional to be interesting. Won’t refuse to have it again though. 110319

Bottle: Pale-malty and herbal-hoppy nose with a buttery touch; deep golden coloured, medium-sized fluffy white head; moderate dry bitter-sweet flavour, light to medium bodied, malty base detectable; dry bitter-sweet finish with a citrussy-hoppy tinge. Dobre pivo......
Earlier Rating: 8/13/2008 Total Score: 2.9
Bottle: Golden, lazy carbonation, mid-sized to bigger creamy and fluffy head; moderate, almost aromatic hoppy nose with a pale-malty background; malty base as usual detectable, moderate to solid dryish bitter-sweet flavour, light to medium bodied; harsh bitter, slightly sourish finish. A bit unharmonic, but all in all a quite good Bohemian Pilsener.......
