GBBF. Cloudy brown beer, pale tan head. Dry palate. Intense brown malts with a little chocolate. A little orange hop attempts some balance. Dry finish. Bitterish aftertaste.

Second day at GBBF ’11, cask, 5.8% abv., third-pint at the Vesalius Bar, Belgian & Dutch. Filmy patches at the surface of a body that is dark as coal. Bitter fruits and sweet malty aroma. Fruit-malty taste, rather tart fruits followed by a dry bitter end. A good session drink (London, 03.08.2011).

One-third pint, cask as Born to be Mild, 4.2% abv, at the Vesalius Bar, Belgian & Dutch (including Italy). Nice golden brown body, just a tiny layer at the surface. Moderate aroma of dark malts. Anise, grainy malts added by fruity hops in flavour. Slightly roasted palate. Watered mouthfeel, still rather dry on the swallow. Accepted (London, 03.08.2011).

Cask @ GBBF 2011, Great British Beer Festival, Earls Court Exhibition Centre, London, England.Clear dark brown colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light beige head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, chocolate malt, roasted, wood, moderate hoppy, grass. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and moderate bitter with a long duration, woody, dark malt, sweet malt. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20110802]

Cask@GBBF2011 (as White Dog Born To Be Mild). Black colour, small brown head. Aroma is roasted malts, liquorice, some mild fruity and spices as well. Flavour is dark fruits, toasted notes, some mild spicy and toffeeish notes as well. Balanced, and quite nice.

Cask@GBBF2011. Very deep amber colour, small beige head. Aroma is dark fruits, toast, some mild hebal notes as well as mild grassy and raisiny notes. Flavour is dark fruits, mild roasted notes, some smoked wet wood as well as some slight toffeeish notes.

Cask @ GBBF, 2011. Comes as White Dog: Born to be mild. Pours amber with a small creamy off white head. Vague roast, caramel, bread and a whiff of tart fruit. A bit dusty. Medium to thin body.

From cask. Pours hazy dark brown with a small tan head. Aroma is dark roasted malty and breadish. Fruity, wooden and mild acidic flavoured. Bitter and dry phenolic to estery.
