Description
The Flying Monkeys Craft Brewery leads the Craft Beer Revolution in Ontario. Brewing radical Beers and creative Ales right on the waterfront in downtown Barrie since 2004, the Flying Monkeys was the first Ontario Craft Brewery to truly recognize the need to overthrow the conservative regime of macro-brews and timid small batch taste-a-likes and create a new Culture of Craft Brewing in our province.

Casting off the comfortable and respectable cloak of the Robert Simpson Brewing Company, and revealing our true selves as the Flying Monkeys late in 2008, we gave rise to the the collective creativity of our Brewery and committed our Brewhouse to the adventurous longings of the growing culture of Craft Beer Lovers in Ontario.

Can at the DCBeer May share. Poured a bright, mostly clear vibrant orange color with a small white head. Aroma was light lemon, coconut. Some light coconut, sunscreen. Missing something?

This chocolate stout poured a deep black colour with a creamy brown head. Nice lacing. Scents include cocoa, mint and a little black cherry. Ovation chocolate mints basically. First swig was quite roasted with a lot of mint and cocoa flavour. Medium sweet with roasted malt, mint and chocolate flavours lingering.

First swig was full flavoured with tastes of raspberries, chocolate, coconut, oatmeal…with a Viva Puff thrown in. Finish is chocolate and raspberries. Sickly really.

On tap @ Hopaholic. Black coloured with beige head. Intense chocolate fudge in aroma and taste, with some coffee notes and long lasting, sweet finish. Creamy mouthfeel, heavy body, soft carbonation. Lovely.

Bottle @ Hopaholic. Black coloured with thin, long lasting beige head. Coffee and cocoa dominate its aroma and taste, with some additional, slighter hoppy notes. Medium lasting finish, light body, soft carbonation. More like a stout than a black IPA imo.
