Bottled, BB 15/11/2013, large sample. Clear golden color, short frothy head. Aroma of grainy malt, slight spicy, hint of ginger and white pepper, coriander. Quite spicy taste, just a hint of malts, not much bitterness. Quite dry. Label says buckwheat, ok. That probably gives the weird ginger and coriander. Not really good.

Bottled. A hazy light yellow beer with a beige head. The aroma has notes of straw, yeast, and malt. The flavor is sweet with notes of yeast, spices, straw, alcohol, and malt, leading to a bitter finish.

Golden beer. Smells of yeast and orange peel. Taste is sweet, alcoholic, rounded. Decent mouthfeel. Good beer, but nothing too out of the ordinary. There are better Belgians for this price.

Bottle from Au Grain d’Orge, Crissier
Cloudy pale blond color, medium sized compact head. Light aroma, it ha a fresh touch, but nothing complicated. Dry mouthfeel, a bit weak, with a spicy touch, but also a bit vegetables and metallic; ordinary bitterness. Boring.

Bottled. Tart, fruity nose, a bit of vinegar and yogurt. Tart, fruity flavor. Interesting, this one was somewhat verging on a Flemmish Red, though maybe it wasn’t in the best of condition.

33cl Bottle at Kafé België. Slightly hazy golden colour, white head. Aroma is light malty, a bit floral, not much else. Flavour is soft sweet, light fruity, floral, light CO2 bitterness in the finish. Light-bodied, slightly overcarbonated. OK-ish, not great.

33cl Bottle: taken at the Pre-Essen Christmas Beer Festival meet-up in the Oud Arsenaal, Antwerp on 14th Dec 2012. Looked OK, Slight haze but still a good golden hue to the body, on top a medium depth white covering. The nose was a blend of sour notes, yeast and light malts. The taste a little sweeter than the aroma suggested: maltier, yet with an undertone of citrus notes to keep a balance. OK rather than wooh! Can’t call it a ’bog standard’ Belgian Pale Ale, as there is no such animal: but if there was, this would one of them.

The Belgian Beer Weekend continues at home with this 500 yen bottle of Seef I got as take-away. 6.5% Fantastic label, fruity mildly sour wine like aroma. Pale star gold color, slightly opaque. A nice crisp sour bite to the flavor, kind of spicy. I find it quite delicious!
