Bottle at papsø tasting. Clear Yellow, no head. mild aroma, faint apple and pear, hints of rubber. flavor is slightly fruity apple and pear, earthy note that I don’t like, seems to be natural. Flavor is mild, almost boring and the earthy or spicy note (which is very faint) still manages to mess up the flavor profile.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of fonefan. Pours a clear yellow with a small white head. Sweet’n’tart fruit nose. Medium body with an initial sweetness and then a subtle and pleasing tartness that makes for a great balance. Very easygoing. 311011

Bottle from The Hop Pocket, Bishops Frome, Herefordshire, consumed at Castleton campsite, Peak District, Derbyshire, 20.09.10 Pours lemony yellow, its actually very clear with a medium carbonation. Quite sweet but in fairness almost all of the Old Grove ciders are made with dessert apples quite unusual for this part of the country. There is a pleasant tanginess to this, fruity sugary rush comes through, touch dry, a lovey cider, the best yet from Old Grove. A7 A4 T7 P4 Ov14 3.6

Bottle 750ml, picked this up at The Hop Pocket, Bishops Frome, Herefordshire 11.09.10 consumed 12.09.10 Pours light gold, medium carbonation with some white bubbles. Aroma is honey tinged and floral. Taste is really sweet and yet on this occasion I don’t mind at all because it really is quite different, very honeyish, feels quite thick and substantial in the mouth, almost slight oily thickness, not sure I’ve ever had a Russet single varietal cider before but I understand that this producer concentrates on dessert apple single varietals according to the Hop Pocket owner. I don’t really get the oakiness, there is a tanginess but its really rather swamped by the gushing sweetness. I like it because it is quite different. A6 A4 T7 P3 Ov13 3.4

Bottle picked up at The Hop Pocket, Bishops Frome, Herefordshire, 11.09.10 consumed 12.09.10. Pours crystal clear gold, bubbly white head soon departs, medium carbonation. Tastes quite sweet, I suppose there is a bittersweetness, but it’s a little too sweet for me, light powdery appley mouthfeel, drying a little at the end, very easy drinking for the ABV. It’s fine but it never totally engaged me, I could have been drinking something made by a much bigger producer. Sorry about the website address details I added for this, I’d spent 20 mins looking for even the merest detail about this with no success at all. A6 A4 T6 P3 Ov12 3.1
