On tap at Brouwer's for Big Wood, pours a cloudy / murky dark orange with a small beige head. Aroma of paint thinner, nail polish, bourbon and vanilla. Flavour is quite offensive, with nasty medicine, paint thinner, turpentine, and nail polish qualities. Whatever they did to the base beer totally destroyed this - offensive / a disaster.

On tap at Brouwer's for Big Wood, pours an opaque golden orange with a small beige head. Aroma of boozy hops, dry zesty hops, no detection of the barrels. Flavour of caramel, light bourbon, vanilla, not much of the dry zesty qualities on the nose. Now this is how you do a barrel aged Imp. IPA, as much as the concept repels me. Excellent.

Bottle courtesy of CaptainCougar, thanks. Hazy amber copper color, small white head. Aroma of plums, raisins, cherry. Taste has mixed summer fruits, lemon, sourness toward the finish. Not bad.

Bottle, 22oz. It’s a clear, dark golden to light amber beer, Almost licorice-like hops, with lots of citrus peel. Sugary maltyness too. It’s quite dryish, full-bodied and very bitter. Some maltyness to support it. Lemon peel, grapefruit, green pine cones, all things bitter. Lasting finish. I like this one, dry enough to avoid cloyingness, and very bitter. 110820
