Description
Kompaan had humble beginnings, with just a few recipes and a whole lot of gusto. The brewery was founded by Jeroen and Jasper, two school friends that have known each other longer than not. They shared a zest for life and were ready to put The Hague on the craft beer map. The brewery name is based on this friendship, two companions drinking together. As a modern, young brewery making contemporary, exciting beers, the name is spelt in modern Dutch, as “kompaan”, and not “compaen”.

Tap at Arendnest, Amsterdam, 22nd April 2026. Pours an off clear orange. Taste is a bit incipid, not much punch, I’d say it needs more hops

(Draft at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 25 Feb 2026) Golden colour with frothy, white head. Malty, hoppy nose with notes of bread, citrus and herbs. Malty, hoppy taste with bread, citrus, herbs, honey and a balanced citric/herbal bitterness in the finish. Medium body, with a slight sweetness. Hoppy and refreshing. Nice one.

Can 33cl. from a local Jumbo supermarket @home poured into a tulip glass. Hazy medium amber colour, tall frothy off-white head, half-way lasting, fair lacing. Aroma sweet malt, peach, pear, ripe apples, yeast, faint metallic notes, fruity hops. Smooth taste, medium sweet and light bitter, malty, yeast, peach, ripe apples, spicy notes. Medium body, oily texture, soft carbonation, fruity sweetbitter aftertaste, tasty, spicines more pronounced in the finish, not your typical tripel yet very enjoyable, good.

Can. Can't find the name 'Stoere Binck' on the label, nut it's the same can as on the picture. Color: Black, creamy brown head. Aroma: Roasted malt, coffee notes, Jenever notes. Taste: Very nice blend of roasted malt and floral, fruity and herbal Jenever notes. Juniper. Hints of coffee, some caramel, hints of almond, oak wood and liquorice. Earthy notes. Over medium creamy body, below average carbonation. Moderate sweet, over moderate bitterness. Nice long lasting finish. Nice barrel ageing, nice complexity.
