Description
Kompaan had humble beginnings, with just a few recipes and a whole lot of gusto. The brewery was founded by Jeroen and Jasper, two school friends that have known each other longer than not. They shared a zest for life and were ready to put The Hague on the craft beer map. The brewery name is based on this friendship, two companions drinking together. As a modern, young brewery making contemporary, exciting beers, the name is spelt in modern Dutch, as “kompaan”, and not “compaen”.

440ml can. Slightly cloudy, dark yellow-ish to orange, golden colour with average, frothy to creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, white head. Minimally bready and grainy, wheaty malty and slightly yeasty spicy aroma, herbal-floral, hoppy overtones, hints of wheat crisp bread, a touch of clove, floral whiffs of basmati rice. Taste is minimally bready and grainy, spicy, wheaty malty, slightly grassy and herbal-floral hoppy, minimally yeasty spicy, a touch of wheat crisp bread, mint, eucalyptus, clove.
Creamy-oily texture, smooth and soft, minimally greasy palate, medium to fine, dense, creamy, mildly prickly carbonation.
Quite cautious, somehow condensed and homogeneous in such an extent that "monotonous" is the more precise term - hoped for more Weizenbock character due to the abv, but this is a Kristallweizenbock at best. A complete lack of fruit flavours, not many yeasty aspects in general - rather disappointing.

Can at home. Bit hazy golden. Nice dank hops, orange, zesty, peach, mango. Soft malts and a bit of grassy bitter finish. Light sweet and even less bitter. Over light bodied. A bit thin, but very tasty for a NA beer. Well done.

From tap at Het Refter, Zwolle. Fruity, yeasty, notes of pear, malt, soft spicy notes, bubble gum, ripe sugary fruit. Medium sweet, lightly bitter. Just a nice little fruity Tripel, gets the job done.

Can from Mikros supermarket. Hazy dark golden to light amber. Sweet malts, peach, tea, biscuits, light caramel, zesty, toffee. Medium sweet, a bit less bitter. Over medium bodied. Not much alcohol, this feels lighter than 8.6%abv. also needs more hops.

Can from Jumbo. Gushed all over the couch. Clear golden, big head. Bready malts, cream, resinous hops, tangerine, a touch of caramel. Medium seert and bitter. Crisp medium bodied. Maybe a little bit too old even though it's not actually that old... Hmmm. Otherwise not bad.

Can from Jumbo at home. Weird murky brown. Some caramel and chestnuts, bread crust, a bit of zesty hops, coffee with a ton of cheap creamer. Light sweet and bitter. Over light bodied. Not bad at all, but it's very bland and not really very hoppy either. Could be nice on a hot day maybe.
