Description
Established in 1994 in South Deerfield, MA, Berkshire Brewing Company is New England’s premier regional craft brewery. We keep it simple: brewing our ales and lagers fresh in small batches. We keep it real: all of our beers are unfiltered, unpasteurized, and contain no chemical additives or preservatives. And we keep it creative: producing a broad range of year-round and seasonal ales and lagers, and frequent brewer’s specials.
We believe in staying relaxed, down-to-earth, and enjoying an abundance of great beer. There are no secrets here. We share our process, our culture, and of course, the final product – because that’s the way we believe a craft brewery should be.

Dark brown. Thin head. Rich, soy saucey aroma with light fruitiness - a juicy orange component. Juicy, with blackberry, chocolate and coffee. This is complex and delicious. It has the flavour profile of top of the line espresso - one of those Intelligentia single estates. Wood, and light vanilla late. Alchemic.

Golden-tan. Slight haze. There’s some light fruitiness and vague malts. Some thick malts, fairly dull. Lacks brightness and roundness of sugars.

Courtesy of keifdog. Pours dark brown with thin mocha head. The aroma is sweet with notes of malts and molasses that roll up into nearly robust bourbon, vanilla and oak. The taste feels a bit thin with notes of chocolate, and roasty to burnt malts. Then a I get a wave of solid bourbon, vanilla and oak. Beyond midway and into the finish a flash of sour barrel notes is noticed from time to time creating a bit of twang to go along with molasses and chocolate taking this to closure.

Courtesy of kiefdog. Pours dark brown with brown edges and thin mocha head. The aroma is mildly malty moving into burnt and coffee notes as well as molasses, caramel and chocolate. The taste is smooth with roasty malts pierced with sweeter molasses and caramel. A layer of chocolate joins in about midway along with a sense of burnt malts taking this to a pleasing finish.

FRO throwdown: Very dark, opaque, thin head. Alot of vanilla and oak with some roast underneath. Dark sweet roast flavors with undertones of oak. This one is over the top!

Sample at O-town throwdown ’09 pours black with golden lacing. Aroma of bourbon was easy to spot and sweet. Taste of dark fruits, with some notes of bourbon, hints of vanilla light bitter chocolate finish. Pretty good stuff, can’t go wrong when bourbon is well used.

Muddy light brown color with a slightly off-white head. Weak aroma of malts... barely noticeable at least for me. Slightly fruity taste. Kind of dry feeling overall. Very minimal hops. Moderate taste of malts through and through.

Orange color. Malt flavor and aroma. Ther is only so much to do with this style and Berkshire has done a fine job with it. Lightly caramelized malt.

Nice tan head witha black body. Light espresso aroma and chocolate. Chocolate and espresso taste. Some honey perhaps. Medium body. And this beer has a wonderful aftertaste. Overall, this was a very good porter, although nothing too unique.

Pours deep mahogany into a shaker. Off-white head recedes to hug rim. Cocoa and coffee aromas. Light and sprightly with upfront dark caramel and a lasting bitter chocolate finish.
