Description
The Plockton Brewery was opened in 2007 by Andy Will who is a retired Royal Navy Officer. Andy wanted to supplement his Retirement Pay from the Royal Navy and what better business to enter into than a brewery ? He took the BrewLab "Introduction To Brewing" course and then put together a business plan for the brewery. The brewery is situated at Andy's home and the opening ceremony is available for all to see on YouTube. The brewery started of with a capacity of 1BBL, it now has as a capacity of 2.5BBL. Currently brewing small batches of "themed" beers.

Cask at the Plockton Inn, Plockton. Pours amber with small white head. Malty and fruity aroma. Toffee, caramel and pleasant hoppy bitterness. Nice one.

Cask at Cloisters. Pours golden amber, nose is sweet toffee, floral, taste is light citrus, quite sweet and thin.

Cask at cloisters. Pours clear pale gold, thin white head. Aromas of light citrus and pale malt. Taste is light sweet, herbal and citrus bitter. Creamy texture, thin finish. Not bad.

Cask at the Cloisters Scottish Beer Festival. pours clear pale gold, thin white head. Light floral and citrus aromas, some light caramel. Taste brings more sweetness initially, but with a good bitterness at the back. Crisp finish. Nice.

Cask at the Plockton Inn. It pours dark mahogany brown with a medium light tan head. The nose is toasty, earth, raisin, fruit cake and caramel. The taste is smooth, bitter-sweet, brown bread, toasty, earth, dried fruits, sultana, raisin, decent bitter bite and fruit cake with a dryish finish. Medium body and fine carbonation. Smooth, balanced and very drinkable. Hides abv very well.

Amber-brown. Earthy, slight hop fruitiness but overall a nice caramelly malt character. Decent bitter.

Bottled. Hazy pale amber, coarse head. Spicy hop aroma. Mid dry with medium body and rounded mouthfeel. Hay and ripe fruit. Balanced bitter finish. Nicely drinkable.

Bottle on the train from Plockton to Dingwall, as Plockton Tawny, 19/10/13. Hazed dark amber with a good sized light beige head. Nose is bready malt, fruit tang, light spice. Taste comprises tangy fruits, bitter orange, caramel. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, dry bitterness in the closure. Ok bitter.

Bottle, as Plockton Light, on the train from Plockton to Dingwall 19/10/13. Hazed golden amber with a thin off white covering. Nose is orange, peaches, toasted malts, light hops, touch of soap. Taste comprises orange pith, peach, light hops, citric fruit. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, light grassy bitterness in the finish. Ok stuff but the soapy notes let this one down.

Bottle on the train from Plockton to Dingwall, 19/10/13. Lightly hazed dark amber with a good sized light beige head. Nose is fruity, bready malts, toffee. Taste comprises toffee, dates, light sugars, fruit cake. Medium bodied, fine carbonation, dry finish with light bitter notes. Ok bitter.
