Deep hazy amber coloured body with a thinnish off-white head that fades pretty quickly. Aroma of grassy hops, malt, metal, alcohol and citrus fruits. Medium to Full-bodied; Strong bittering flavours up front fading to a potent caramel and maltiness which lasts for quite a while. Aftertaste shows some bittering qualities that are very pleasant and finishes strongly with citrus. Overall, a decent IPA - nothing spectacular, but definitely worth trying if you can get a bottle! I sampled this 65 cL bottle purchased from Whole Foods in Ravenna (Seattle), Washington on 11-February-2007.

22 oz bomber courtesy of Degarth. Pours slightly hazy copper in color with a quarter inch off white head that stayed around to the finish. Nice lacing. First impression is that this smells like a Pale Ale with sweetness from the malts and a light pine hoppiness. The flavor however is all IPA with up front pine hoppiness that isn’t too bitter. Seems to be some late addition hops to create a bit of hop flavor along with the stronger hop bitterness. The bitterness does build by the midway point along with some sweet pale malts near the finish.

Bottle. Pours a lekker dark brown with tan head. Much quick dissolving lace. Aroma of chocolate, coffee and molasses. Chocolate, malt and coffee flavour. Mild espresso like finish. Worth sipping, and low enough in alcohol to be a session beer

Deep brown-black body with red highlights at the edges. Aroma of roasted malts, licorice, and chocolate. Bitter roasty flavor with interesting licorice notes and cerealy, grassy flavors. Usually I prefer a bit of sweetness but the drier flavors here really work. I didn’t pick up any of the overt strangeness others found in their samples. Perhaps it’s because I’ve had few Imperial Stouts of late, but I thought this was really quite good.

On Tap at the brewpub. A hazy dark amber/brown with a small light tan head. Fleeting wispy lacing. Malty swet woody aroma and a slight bit of bitering hops. Rather hoppy flavor for an amber, not as sweet as other of the style I thought. Not bad.

Draught Hazy orange-amber, with just a rim of yellow head, leaving unreal amounts of lace. Hops, not overpowering, with a flowery, nearly rosepetal quality. Very hoppy, hopbitter, near-metallic flavour, quite some maltbacking, but not really contributing a lot to the taste, rather the MF. Retronasal some non-sweet licorice flavour. Medium to well-bodied. Certain slickness. A reasonably good IPA, balance being still lopsided, in that I need some malt taste somewhere.

Hazy dark brown. Even through the nitro. This beer is hugely roasty and toasty. Creamy body. Big toasty palate with slight nuttiness and roast.

Cloudy dark amber colour. Slight dark fruit amidst a rich dark malt aroma. Light perfumey hop. Soft, but kind of astringent. Some late heat. Chewy, big, yeasty and lots of citrusy hops. Not entirely focused.

On Tap at the Brewpub. Medium amber with a modest off white head. Traces of lacing. Moderate malt flavors and hops to balance. Woody smokey flavors and a failry heavt smoth feel. Littel residual bitterness at the end.

Botle Pours a clear medium redish amber witha huge yellow/light tan head. Honey and light sweet malts. I actually imagine a yard full of freshly fallen maple leaves and dread that I wil have to rake them all up. Not to mention that they came from my neighbors tree and...sorry I was miles away there... Flavor is woody and of wet cardboard. The alcohol comes though a bit more than I expected and the feel seems abit chalky. Easy on the biterness and a drinkable if not spectacular brew. A few extra points for a berer from my old stomping grounds.
