Description
Popihn was founded in 2017 by Arnaud Popihn in the French Vaumort region. Supported by head brewer Gunther Oltra, Popihn quickly became the most hyped brewery in France.
Arnaud renovated an old barn and installed brewing tanks: the brand and the workshop were born! He immediately associated with a friend they met in Paris and they decide to embark on the adventure together by making artisanal French beers in the Sens region, in the countryside and with the barley grown by his parents.
It is in this natural break that we find the Popihn brewery workshop, with the very latest brewing equipment. They readily admit to being influenced and inspired by the breweries of the United States and England.
Very aromatic although a little bitter IPAs which give pride of place to exotic fruits (lemon, guava, mango, grapefruit!) And sour drinks that are not very developed in France! This is their hallmark: originality and innovation, but each time with the highest quality! Their daring paid off: they are now key players in these “niche” markets!

Can at home. Murky yellow with a white head. Nose is peach, candied apricot, light citruses, a hint of vanilla. Taste is lighlty herbal, peach and citrus also show, kind of like a hard candy you take for a hurting throat. The finish is somewhat boozy, fairly thin, light in body, more on the drier side all in all. Lacks deeper notes, lacks fruityness, lactic acid boi if I had to guess

Bottle shared at work, courtesy of the Popihn crew. Eszeveszett savanyú, erősen ecetsavas eleinte, de ez szerencsére elillan és szelidül. A markáns savasság kitart viszont végig, citrusos, tejsavas, kissé funky is. Ezen túl vágottfüves, gyógynövényes. Habár meglehetősen rough around the edges, kifejezetten tetszik ez a vadság, de az biztos, hogy nem szerénykedik, hanem azonnal rádrúgja az ajtót

2/III/25 - on tap, shared @ Billies Biercafetaria (Antwerpen) after the Phantom of the Opera, BB: n/a (2025-215)
Little cloudy light blond beer, big creamy white head, very stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: lovely, quite a lot of tropical fruits, juicy, citrus, a little dank, grassy, more dank hops, some marijuana. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: pretty herbal start, a bit spicy, citrus notes, floral touch, grassy. Aftertaste: bitter, grassy, spicy notes, a hint of cardamom, hoppy, a bit resinous, soapy touch, piny, pretty dank finish, marijuana notes, nice one!

Tap at Winter Affair '25. Notes are brief. They mention a story of a beer which succeeded at being a pretty demanding style, but failed to arrest my fancy, feeling a bit boring, too classic. Good, but not great.

Tap at Winter Affair '25. Notes are brief. My notes here mention a load of classic barnyard lambic character. How much of a NEIPA profile did it retain though? None is mentioned, probably not much. Still, a very tasty beer, excellent.

Bottled, from Systembolaget. Black, spritzy head. Acrid black malt and soy sauce. Sweet with surprisingly slender body and clean mouthfeel. Tart and acrid, boozy and harsh. Alcoholic bitter finish. Poorly executed.

Bottle shared at work, courtesy of the Popihn crew. Túlságosan fűszeres, túlságosan vékony, nincsen igazán egyensúlyban, a hordózás sem elég markáns

CBJ bottleshare. Thanks to me for the bottle. Almost clear amber beer, small cream colour head. Smooth palate, airy, decent fine carbonation. Buttery biscuit caramel malts, a little creamy malt sweetness. Spice. Good fruity rum and bourbon, estery. Dried fruits. Smooth finish. Different and drinkable.
