Sample at the Big Tap In on 04/21/2012. The beer is a clear dark orange color with a medium off-white head that diminishes quickly to an outer ring. Short stringy lacing. Aroma of piney hops and malt. Medium to full body with a moderately bitter hops character that is offset by sweet caramel malt. The finish is hoppy with a short bitter aftertaste. Decent overall.

Sample at the Big Tap In on 04/21/2012. Pours inky black with a wispy tan head that recedes steadily. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate and a touch of coffee. Medium body with a roasty character and notes of sweet chocolate malt and mild coffee. The finish is short and sweet with a mocha aftertaste. Decent overall.

On tap at vintage estates. Mild IPA aroma. Orange and clear. Big creamy head. Quite IPA rude, just like a double should be. Big and bitter all the way down, mouthcoating soapy and oily. Much alky volatile fumes in the mouth and up the nose. Some slight co2 in there considering hopw strong this stuff is. If you like IPA, try this, I’m a humanistic rater who don’t care for IPA in general. It was there so I tasted it.

A solid Irish Ale. +++ Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a nut brown color with orange highlights and a medium sized creamy tan head that faded quickly and left minimal lacing. The aroma was sweet sugar and faint vague dark fruits with a bready undertone. The flavor was sweet and tangy caramel, honey, cherry and a touch of sherry with a bready undertone and a hint of wood. The finish was medium length sweet caramel,honey and cherry. Medium body and smooth. Pleasant.

Had this at the 2011 Pittsburgh Ratebeer Christmas Eve Eve Tasting. Bomber. Looks like cream soda. Smells a little sweet and possibly even a little alarming. At first, for 8.5%, does not seem to be that strong. Some bitterness in there. Taste is quite malty and perhaps there is a little soap in there. Weirdly smooth and leathery. Very little CO2 but there is some in there, its not flat. On the finish there is some kind of cream soda effect, not sure what to think of this special brew except; unique.

22oz bottle split with Anndiesel. Opaque brown-black, respectable beige head. Mellow, roasty, chocolate coffee aroma, a touch or sour cherry. A little overcarbonated and a pinch sour, Id assume slight infection. If you can forgive that, this is a pretty decent beer, just leaning toward the sour. I actually like this flavor profile, think New Glarus Unplugged Old Porter. This one isn’t going to score as high because it is clearly an error, and the taste will probably devolve rather than mellow like the NG. Admittedly this is probably a different creature on tap, but my rate sort of reflects the crappy beer they put on the market.

22oz bomber split with Anndiesel. Massive gusher, took a long time to get it all out of the bottle. Thick, unfiltered red-brown with a humongous gray head. A pretty solid Red, maybe encroaching into Brown Ale territory a little, some definite nutty tones. Despite the massive gushing open, this is quite a nice example of the style. Medium to full bodied, with some pleasant caramel tones as well. Mellow soapy hop character, nothing special there..to style I suppose. OK.

Sampled on draft at 3R6P this beer poured a yellow-golden color with a huge creamy white head that lingers forever and left incredible lacing. The aroma was light sweet sugar and citrus. The flavor was dry, tart and dust with light lemon and cardboard. Medium finish and body. Not good.

22 ounce bottle, no bottle date. Pours almost opaque dark brown color with a small 1 finger light tan head with good retention that reduces to a thin lacing cap. Some light lacing clings to the side of the glass as well. Aromas of roasted malt, caramel, light chocolate, light espresso, light spiciness, cola, and some sort of metallic off flavor or something. Ok aromas, but they got much more subdued after the initial pour. Taste turns out better: caramel, chocolate, roasted malts, light coffee, molasses, and spicy hops. Some decent bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of chocolate, caramel, and spicy hops for a bit. Medium carbonation and body; with a fairly creamy mouthfeel that drinks quite easily. No alcohol noticed other than a slight warming after the finish. Overall: even though the aromas were off, the taste turned out better; and this is quite an enjoyable stout for being 5%.

Bomber from Belmont Party Supply. Pours very dark brown with a large brown creamy head. Decent head retention. Aroma of chocolate, roasted malts, caramel, some toastiness and a faint hop finish. The taste is roasted malts, chocolate, caramel, a chalky note, faint fruits and a nutty note. Thin-medium bodied.
