South Dakota,
United States 🇺🇸
Associated Venue: Prairie Berry Winery
Established in 1999
With an affinity for the Midwest, a love of local, seasonal ingredients, and a thirst to carry on a five-generation tradition of handcrafting beverages in South Dakota, the answer was clear. On that day in 1999, Prairie Berry Winery was born.
Today, from a 20,000 square foot state of the art wine production facility in the Black Hills of South Dakota, Prairie Berry Winery has grown into one of the most successful wineries in the region, winning over 1,000 awards and producing some of the most popular and award-winning wines in the Midwest, including the widely acclaimed Red Ass Rhubarb.
Fifteen years after starting Prairie Berry Winery, the natural next step for Sandi and her husband was opening Miner Brewing Company in 2013, located next door to the winery near Hill City.
The following year, they expanded east to Sioux Falls, South Dakota and opened Prairie Berry East Bank. Four years later, they moved across Sioux Falls to the Western Mall and reopened as Miner Brewing Company and Prairie Berry Winery Taproom.

Bottled. A deep red mead. The aroma has notes of raspberries, and light notes of honey - and sugar. The flavor is sweet yet with a lightly acidic impression from the raspberries on a light honey back ground - more like a raspberry wine than a mead. The finish is lightly tart with a light bite in the tongue. Thanks Papsoe for sharing.

750 mL bottle courtesy of daknole. Thanks for the South Dakota rate. Pours a clear cranberry color. Aroma of tart raspberry notes, with some artificial notes, grapes, berries, and some honey sweetness. Taste is raspberry, strawberry, blackberry lending a tart finish. Some green apple and sweet honey notes as well. Medium bodied. Good mead.

Bottle 75 cl. Courtesy of daknole. Pours a clear red with the tiniest head. Sweet raspberry aroma. Medium body, sweet and tart raspberry accents with a vague carbonation. The honey is rather downplayed. Somewhat tart and astringent finish. 100110

Nose is lightly tart and lightly sweet apples. I used to eat crab apples off a tree we had nearly 50 years ago and they were not really sweet as afr as I can remember. Clear gold without carbonation. Flavor is a balance of light tartness (not really all that tart) and light sweetness not overpowering the tartness. There also was a bit of bitterness in there also. Quite a decent cider!

750 ml bottle online from the Winery! Nose of raspberries and Cheracol cough syrup with light contrasting sweetness and a hint of tart. Clear raspberry red with a ring of larger bubbles aroud the outside of the glass. Flavor is lightly tart raspberries and light alcohol warmth. The tartness is refreshing!
