Description
The Storm Brewing Company was formed in 1998 by Hugh Thompson and Dave Stebbings, joined by sales guy Patrick and Dexter the cat in the early 2000s. Operating from a former pub on Waterside, in Macclesfield, they worked together for 15+ years, before Hugh and Patrick retired from Storm at the end of 2018. Dexter sadly passed away in Summer 2019 having lived a long and full life.

Their small team now comprises Dave, his son Tom and youngest daughter Alice. Today the brewery continues to produce a core range of superb, award-winning ales, along with a new, numbered line of "UXBs" (Unique Experimental Brews), featuring bold new flavours and powerful hop combinations.

[Cask at GBBF] Pale brown. A neutral beer with light appley notes and some roasty malt. While it flavourwise might not be all that exciting the malt character is good: soft and light. Finishes with low bitterness.

Bottle conditioned, picked from a farm shop near Evesham. Mid Brown colour. Some malts detected in the aroma, taste initially slightly verging on the dry side with some very nice roasted/burnt flavours coming through also good level of bitterness and all in all a pretty good bottled beer.

A hazy amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma is sweet yeasty and malt, but also with slight notes of oranges. The flavor is sweet malty with straw notes from the hops as well as light notes of caramel.

Cask at GBBF Golden beer with some good hoppiness but a bit too sweet for me. Starting to get towards the end of the day so my notes were becoming a bit sparse.

[Cask at GBBF 2004] An orange beer with no head. The aroma contains notes of caramel and fruit. The flavor is sweet with sticky notes of caramel and lots of hops, that gives it a dry end.
