Sampled on draft at Hough’s this beer poured a red-brown color with a huge fluffy red-white head that lingered and left incredible lacing. The aroma was sweet, tangy, a bit tart and had a touch of sugar. The flavor was tart, sour, bitter, a bit chalky and had a vague fruity notes. Long finish. Medium body. Meh.

Bottle thanks to my Grandfather. Pours a clear yellow color with a small white head. A big sweet ginger nose. The flavor is big ginger, oranges, sweet biscuit. Quite nice. Thanks Pap.

Guess where I had this beer? Pale yellow with nice lacing. A simple just plain old good pittsburgh beer aroma annat. Slightly more hoppy than the allegheny brew fer sure. It’s not in yer face at all, more well behaved, I like this one. Just enough hops to let you know its beer. Well behaved overall and almost civilized, heheh. Hop bitterness builds near the end, quite good co2.

So, everybody knows I believe in the rodent. What he says, goes. Tap @ Bocktown, lovely place with lovely people. Clear and pale. Smells beery fresh and that carries over to the taste, yummy. Easy and nice, clean and fresh, never bitter, with many friendly pilsner attitudes as compared to the bitter euro varieties. Good job Pen and a good job on this pilsner that the majority of beer drinkers in Pgh can enjoy and this includes those counties north of Pgh as well, heheh!

Sample at Ericka’s and Nihar’s Holiday Gathering on 12/18/2015. The beer is a dark mahogany color with a medium light beige head that diminishes steadily to a film. Strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt, dark fruit and caramel. Medium to full body with flavors of caramel malt, ripe fruit, mild hops and a bit of tobacco. The finish is sweet with a malty aftertaste. Decent overall.

Labeled as Bleier Brew, pours a clear gold with some tight white head. Honey nose, white bread, flowers. Flavor has honey, bread, lemon. Lightly creamy finish.
